Help, Please, quick

I got a request from a friend/farmer to "discourage" some hogs from rooting up about 50 acres of new planted corn in a remote area. He replanted 10 acres last Wednesday.
I got out my caller to pre set some hog sounds and that's when the problems started.

I have used the forum search with some answers and some questions.

I have a FoxPro Scorpion with very little time in use and found the batteries dead with the plastic covers split on two of them and they will not take a charge.
I put a set of Duracell alkies in it and it works fine. So the Scorpion seems ok.
The batteries are Powerizer brand that came with the caller.

From a performance chart I think I want to replace with Sanyo 2500 Eneloop or Powerex 2700 batteries.
Will they fit in a Scorpion? I see that some will not fit.
Where can I get them?

Included in my purchase from AllPredatorCalls were:
A Joden AC charger, model: JOD-SAU120152, output; 12DC
Output: 12DC 1.5A
And a FoxPro Car Charger, which plugs into the AC charger, then to the Scorpion.
This FoxPro charger has on the case, for FX5 only.
I do not think that APC would ship anything that would not work...............................

The batteries were getting very hot. Was it the batteries or charger or a combination of both that caused the battery failure?
Anyone else using this charger combination?

It appears that I also need a better charger. BroncoGlenn had recommended the Mah/Powerex MH-C801D at $84.95. Looks like a great one and I found where to buy it.
Is it ok to use my existing charger when away from AC power?

Does anyone know how much run time the Duracell alkaline batteries would give in above freezing temps to say 90 degrees?

P.S. I don't really need the caller to hunt hogs in a field but thought it would be fun to try it and there are even coyotes there.

Doubleclutch ,
Your Scorpion has a built-in safety feature to keep batteries from over heating. Your Scorpion should be charged with the lid closed. If your car charger is the one from Foxpro, I know that mine works great. I charge between stands pretty regular. I think the Sanyo Eneloop 2500,s are what you need when you replace batteries.

Found the Sanyo batteries, don't know why I missed before.
Thomas Distributing, Battery Supply & Electronics.
Sanyo 2,500 mah @ $12.77 / 4 and Sanyo Eneloop 2,000mah @ $9.97 / 4.
Price doesn't matter here, just wonder if the 2,500's will fit and are they needed.

Thanks for your help Rich, I ordered the Sanyo 2700's and also the Maha, MH-C801D charger on sale now for $68.97.
Ordered from Thomas Distributing and it is cheaper to order online

Rich is right about the Sanyo Eneloop cells, I use them in my FX5 and really like them mostly because they don't self discharge like most rechargable batteries.

Thanks Dan, I am still pondering getting one of your ARs.
These corn, bean, peanut, wheat and cotton eaters and rooters don't seem to mind the larger holes. No complaints from them yet.

The Eneloops are only 2000mha.
2000mha with 10% discharge = 1800mha
2700mha with 25% discharge = 2025mha
So if fully charged the 2700 will give longer run time?
The Eneloops do not need monthly charging?

Is that all or am I missing anything?

I bought the 2700 Sanyos. After putting through the conditioning charge they ran my Scorpion on 3/4 sound level for a little over 3.75 hours and were still going strong. I put them back on the charger on slow charge and the charger indicated that they were below 50% charged at that point.
The main thing that I did experience was that before I had to have line of sight for the remote to work, and now the remote works through walls in the house.
I will recommend that good batteries are worth the effort to find

I use the Foxpro 12 volt gel cell battery. It is a little heavy but I have never had a battery problem even when I call from sun up to sun down.

I tried my batteries that came with the Foxpro a few weeks ago and nothing. I put Duracells in it and works fine. So I Googled "best rechargeable batteries" and came up with Eneloops and Hybrio. I bought an 8 pack of each. I contacted Mike at Foxpro and he advised to not keep the batteries connected while not in use. And a few days later I recieved a package from Foxpro with their rechargeable batteries too. I have to be honest, I never was impressed with the Powerizers, but the other two brands are of new technology, so I think they are what we need to power our Scorpions.

I had the same problem just the other morning, I called Foxpro and CS said when not in use to unplug the battery pack and to even pop one of the batterys out.
I explained that the insturctions didnt say anything about that.
She asked where i got the caller and i told her I ordered from FoxPro last Sept.
They shipped me a new set of batterys that same day

Mine also came with the FX5 charger FoxPro said that it was fine.
