Partly true. AI datacenters use servers that use a new type of memory that's more profiatble to make & sell.
But another huge factor is the fact there are (now wer) only 3 companies in the world that make memory. Micron was a huge one & some months ago they bailed on the domestic retail memory market & shut down those plants, leaving only the other 2
As a result, memory prices are crazy huge. In thois PC I installed 64 GB of DDR4 RAM, 2 x 32GB sticks. I paid $126 for them

American consumers are their own worse enemy. You want stuff cheap, it gets made in Asia.Gee if we hadn't sent wafers to Taiwan for slice/dice/test/ package, where would we be now?
