Many of the other call makers have shown their workshops and I finally got some pics taken for my Coyote Den.

My workbench showing the finished product of my various calls.

This is the area where I cut out and work my toneboards with a scroll saw, grinder, and drill press.

The Craftsman lathe was a rummage sale bargain for turning the barrels.

_DrillBits.jpg

The rack of drill and step bits for work with the barrels.

_Tools.jpg

The chisels and other tools used for turning the barrels.

_Sand60.jpg

For sanding the barrels, I use a product called Abranet.

I purchased an assortment of grits from 80-600, with five of each grit size.

A finished laminated wood barrel.

Sam, my everyday companion while working on my calls in the garage.

Thanks for looking.

Nice shop Steve.
I have the exact same lathe, but i dont have any of the extras (chucks) for it yet. Not sure if they are even still available. Did yours come with it or did you have to add them?

This Craftsman lathe came with the duplicator, but I haven't tried it as of yet. I purchased the collette chuck system from Penn State Industries and it sure makes the wood turning easier.

Very nice (and clean) shop Steve. Excellent post and pics.

Thanks Kerry for your comments, my dog Sam should be an EXPERT on critiquing the various sounds that she hears from my testing of all these predator calls.

I just wish that I had the all experience and quality that you show with your custom calls. I sure appreciate all the guidance you have given me.

Very nice place you have there Steve /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
It's nice to have a companion like that in your shop. Mine got hit on the road a few months ago. Gets kinda lonely without him /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif But, another neigbors cat is taking over the duty /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
Very clean and complete shop. And it has a floor /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Thanks for sharing /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Tony:

I have been working with rattlesnakes since 1974 and these are part of the rattlers that my boys and a few other snake hunters brought in last fall. The rattlers were skinned, fleshed, and then put through a borax solution. After which they are placed on these boards for drying. The skins are later removed from the boards, then cured with a isopropyl alcohol and glycerine mix. Over the years, the skins have been glued and laced for various leather products.

Nice shop! I like the way you have it organized. Never have to go looking for something if you put it back! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
