semi automatic .22 MAG

A friend had a REM 597 in the .22 mag semi auto and he sold it because it was jambing all the time. He tried different clips with the same results. I am debating between the CZ and the Excel Ind. I know nothing about either one. Is the CZ made in the USA like the Excel?

CZ all the way. They really are nice guns.

I should caution you that I've never even shot the 512 but have handled one. I know next to nothing about Excel Arms. lol

I have never shot either but I don't like the idea of the CZ not being made in the USA. Is it really that much better? I looked at a friends .17 Excel today and it was nice. The clip really fit nice and the overall feel was nice.

I had the 22 Mag rifle from Excel Arms and used it for hog hunting on WMAs and was very happy with it. I set it up with a pistol scope mounted towards the front of the rail and liked the ability to track targets through thick cover until I had a shot. The only down side was that it did not like to feed some of the hollow point ammo with the larger holes on the tip. I primarily used tipped bullets and was very happy with accuracy and reliability.

I too regret not buying a 10/22mag. I would always say to myself, get that next time , buy this(whatever firearm it was)one now and get that ruger next time.... then they were gone.... i realize that mag research and volquartsen build them, but i liked the ruger price alot more...!

Don't blame ya for that, but one thing to concider is at the very least, CZ USA has actual employees and properties that they pay rent and taxes on in the US, unlike the cheap disposable ChinaLand crap that we all are guilty of buying.

If you just gotta have US made, buy the Volkerson at three-four times the price.
Buy what you like and like what you buy. It's your money.

PS,,, I'll take European goods over ChinaLand's crap every time. (Well, cept for France

I had a Ruger 10/22 Mag. it wasn't accurate. Sold it and bought a H&K 300 in .22 Mag. Great factory trigger pull and it is a tack driver with what ever you feed it. I also have H&R 700 in .22 Mag with a new Green Mountain barrel, not broken in yet, but shooting 1 to 1.5 inch groups. Both feed perfectly and have never had a jam.

I would go with the CZ.

I have a question on the Magnum Research .22 Mag. Magnum Lite Graphite. Looking at pictures it looks like the butt stock pad is low in relationship to the barrel. I would be mounting a Night Optics D 740 night vision scope on it and that scope sits higher than daytime scopes so will it be to high or is the pic I'm looking at a bad angle making it look that way?

The rail does sit a little tall.

I'm assuming your D760 has a picatanny mount? If so, it won't work with the MR since the rail is cut for Weaver mount. I had the same issue when I wanted to mount my NV on mine. I ended up taking my stripped receiver to work and milling it, so it would work with my setup.
