Yankeetown Florida. Went out this last weekend with the family and neighbor Steve. Cruised around a bit on the boat as I am still unfamiliar with the waters, been a month since I was out and the boat is not second nature to me yet. Looking at the Humminbird I saw some depth contours that looked promising so I headed that way and anchored down. Our baits on the smaller rods (medium action 7' Penn and St. Croix rods with 4000 series Penn Battle II's and 20lb braid) were shrimp and mud minnows. The shrimp caught a Trout, a Mackeral, catfish, and some baitfish.....and a blue crab. The mud minnows caught nothing, think they are a better Inshore bait.
The bigger rigs ( a 7' Penn med/hvy with 5000 Battle II and a 8' St. Croix Avid Inshore med/hvy with a 5000 Penn Clash, both with 30 lb test braid, and a Penn 8500 Spinfisher on a Penn 6' Rampage hvy action and 80 lb braid) were baited with pinfish, catfish and ladyfish. It didn't take long before poles started bending and drags were slipping. My daughter also pulled in a big, BIG stingray that was a serious fighter!

Biscuit dog who is afraid of almost everything, appently has it out for fish, even sharks!
Great day out!
Great dinner follows:
Marinated shark steaks
Fried shark nuggets
Also made a killer smoked fish dip from the Mackeral and some blackened shark filets that were honestly more like steak than fish, also good, disappeared before picture could be taken.
Great dinner!
Well, you gotta "hunt" to find seaborne predators like these, so...
This post is nominated for Hunter of the Month. Sorry, the nifty little .gif isn't rotating, so all you see is "Nominated" for now.
