I checked out there website. It is not a good sign that they don't indicate what type of steel they use.
What type of knive where you looking for? In what price range? I am sure you could get a good recommendation from someone here depending on your needs. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif MH

Really too many to choose from, it is like the cereal isle in the grocery store. After you decide how much $ you want to spend it gets a little easier. I am currently using a Benchmade 440c drop point hunter fixed blade that I got a couple years ago for Christmas. They make a smaller version of this knive that would be good for skinning. I also have and use a Grohman Carbon steel skinner. Grohman makes some good knives and if you want to you can get a kit and put one together yourself to save some $$. I have heard lots of good things about Knives of Alaska too. Lots of custom knives come to mind but cost more. Dozier is one of the best for the money in a custom knife. I have been happy with the Benchmade I have. If your dad gave you a knife it is worth more than it could ever cost. Take care of it, and keep it will be a good memory of him some day. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif Take care- MH

Alrighty then, I should have asked if you like fixed or folders? In fixed blades for around the $75.00 limit, the Cold Steel Master Hunter in Carbon V, The Cold Steel Pendalton Hunter series in AUS8A steel, the Benchmade's with 440C (NEVER 440A!) ATS-34, 154CM, D2, M2, all these are great steels. Spyderco Moran with VG-10 is a wonderful knife in that range, and VG-10 is a great steel. Bark River has some decent knives for about the upper limits of your price range.

For a folder look hard at Cabela's Guide Series with the Buck 110 in S30V blade steel. Great classic knife with a superb blade steel. All these blade steels are top notch, as are a few more carbon steels such as 1095, 52100, A2, ect... Here are a couple of repuatable trustworthy places to knife shop:

i liked fixed blades because they are bigger i like at least a 6 inch blade for skinning deer but if i had to choose i would get an 8 inch blade,if they made a folder with a 6 or 8 inch blade i would get that

I would suggest looking into Anza knifes or Puma, both will hold an edge, I personaly use the Puma rattler, and the Anza min skinner.

If you want an excellent web page that has all types of knifes marked way below everyone else look into knife matrix.
