Shooters taking advantage of shooters

Yes, I gave away free stuff and offered up some more free stuff just last week. There are several here who have been generous to me, and if they need a favor, they get one. It does not go forgotten.

I REALLY, REALLY, never planned on discussing this topic again, BUT:

In attempt to be brief, I will just say that not everyone on all boards are "fellow shooters". A term we all like to use often. Some of them are their merely here to turn a buck off of the real hunters/shooters. Just like the individual I called out last week.

These people's hobby IS NOT hunting/shooting, but rather it IS buying/selling. The mere fact that all or nearly all of their posts are in the classifieds should make this a self-evident truth.

PM has a few of this type, but on the grand scale of things, not many at all compared to some other boards. A "fellow shooter" offers something up at a good price in hopes another "fellow shooter" can use it, and one of these bottom feeders scoops it up only to sell it somewhere else. Happens every day. So yes, they do have a negative effect upon the real hunters/shooters, even though most will argue all day that they do not.

The fact that they all like to make it sound as if they are "helping us out" really gets me. Especially when I know of the individual and of their dealings. They have no intentions of helping anybody out, and never have. They are buyers/sellers, not hunters/shooters, and that fact isn't hard to validate.

Soooo, my fellow PM members, keep an eye out for these people, cuz more are on the way. Make note of who is a "good dude" and who is a price gouger under difficult times. Check out who participates only in the classifieds, who is actually really interested in hunting/shooting and contributes to what this board is really all about.

Then choose the company you keep accordingly.............

What about retailers or say site sponsors gouging?? Ive seen a few of them with "inflated" prices, are you boycotting them too? Just curious...

I hate when someone quotes me and I didn't have time to go back and edit

My fingers can't quite keep up with my brain.

I would not call it a "boycott", I simply don't buy it. I have never had a single problem with getting 30 rd AR mags for $20 or .22LR ammo at reasonable prices locally. I realize some are not as "lucky". However, one thing I have not been able to find lately are 40gr Mini-Mags, at any price, and that is what 2 of my .22s like.......

As for the retailers, I would love to see how Cheaper Than Dirt is doing after their run up on everything right after the shooting. WOW did they piss a lot of people off.

Hey no biggie, my intention wasnt to chastize i was just curious if you took the same approach on retailers.

I agree 100%, i just dont buy when the price is wrong.

I wish u the best of luck on the mini mags, those seem to be some of the hardest items to come by

I got banned for a day over on accurate shooter for telling someone they should be ashamed for price gouging! it is free enterprise no doubt but people should have some kind of moral limits!

chuck

There is nothing immoral about asking too much for something. It is immoral for someone to force you to buy something. This is getting silly. You should write to Mayor Bloomberg and see if he can pass a law to control the price of .22 ammo. He already passed a law on how many you can have in your mag. You are in lockstep with him with this silly talk.

I don't see a lot of shooter's posting 100 55-gr. .224 V-max bullets for $23.99. I'm sure there are some friends on these forums that will help each other out as I would with friends and family at no cost. I'm not pricing my stuff to "build up my bank account." I'm pricing my stuff so I can afford a box of 55 gr. V-max bullets if I ever come across one.

And as far as the trading game, it's no different than exchanging cash for goods. Same thing. Even though you are trading something that doesn't have a lot of value to you, I'm betting you don't let it go very cheap in a trade either.

It's always fun to cast the first stone...........

And I don't have 13 posts on this thread trying to justify my position either

.......All the price gouging I see is on the net and gun shows. All the local shops I go to either have it or they don't at normal prices. If I have it and dont need it and decide to sell its not gonna be at DUMBAZZ prices so I can afford a couple boxes of 55gr V-max.

I don't think a lot of people feel the need to argue with someone like you who wants EVERYTHING at rock bottom prices no matter what the market is at. I'm just sick of the adults whining about "price gouging" when no one is forcing anyone to buy. You are a classic hyprocrite.

It's so easy to say "if I have it and don't need it and decide to sell its not gonna be at dumbazz prices....." So convenient. I believe that is code for "I don't have anything to sell and I am too cheap to spend $36 dollars for a box of 350 .22 ammo."

Been here since 04 haven't argued with anyone. You would be the first.Never said anything about me wanting anything at rock bottom prices. But you did admit to being a price gouger and that's on you not me.If I run across some 55gr V-max I'll let ya know and I'll show what real hypocrite really is.Have a quality day my friend.

You won't be able to afford the vmaxes when they ask $22 for them.

But you are right, since I'm not using the 1,000 rounds of .223 ammo I bought a couple of years ago, I should sell them for what I paid for them. I see now why you can't afford anything.

Said by others here, I would never hoard more than I need and post it here for profit. Ever. Not over on GB either. I may post something for sale on GB and start my bid at a reasonable price and see where it goes. But that's how auctions go. I can tell you for a fact I have turned down a lot of reasonably priced ammo that I could easily flip on GB. I don't because I know eventually the manufacturers are going to pass permanent prices increases and I am only going to screw myself in the long run. I am also not interested in taking advantage of good folks like most of you here on PM. That's me...

So if I start an auction on GB for 1,000 rounds of .223 at $300 and it sells for $800, I'm not a "price gouger" or am I?

You're ok if it sells for $800.00

If it sells for $825.00 you suck and are a gouger.

Hows that?

Amen to that! We're also learning who and who not to help out in a pinch.

I don't know about paying rock bottom prices, but I understand the middle man having to make some money. But at the same time, like was mentioned, when someone purchases items just to increase their profit from 100 to 200%, thats BS. Call it what you want but your gouging, simply put.
