Does anybody shoot 55 gr bullets in a 1in14 in there Rem LVSF 22-250. I just purchased this gun and have not been able to shot it yet. I know 50gr Vmax will work well in this gun. I was looking for other options since I do not reload . Thanks Tom

I have a Win mod 70 SA 1 in 14 and I shoot all nosler bullets.
My fav for vermin is the 50 grain BT shoots fabulous.
I also shoot the 55 Grain BT and it shoots good also, just not quit as good.
Here is the cool thing, I shoot the nosler 60 grain partition for deer and it shoot like the 50 grain BT's.

Bullet length is key here. Shorter shoots better.
The 50 is the shortest and shoots the best.
Next is the 60 grain partition then the 55 BT.

Al guns are different on the pills they like and dislike, give it a try and see what you come up with.

My all time fav bullet is the one you see to the left. Discontinued and not made any more.

Tom,
Like the others have said, I went through several sessions of trying to get 55gr Sierra Matchkings to shoot out of my 22-250. I could just never get them to shoot nearly as tight a groups as did the 52 Sierra HPBT or even better yet, the 53 Gr Flat Base HP's. I finally gave up and said guess my rifle just doesn't care for them as much. BTW, I tested using Varget, VVN133 and BLC-2 and a few other popular powders recommended for 22-250's.

Probably the all-time classic 22-250 load of all time is 38gr H-380 under a 55gr bullet. The 1-14 factory twist has remained a constant for years and years, unfortunately.

Bullets, however, have not.

While I have not personally experienced any troubles, I can see some of the longer projectiles giving some 1-14 shooters problems. A little more powder should still do the trick. Watch for signs of pressure.

I have recently ALMOST quit using H380. On my last jar. I pretty much stick with 4064 and Varget these days in my 22-250s......

I have a VSSF 2 with a 1/14" twist and it wont' shoot the poly tipped 55 gr bullets well at all. The 55 gr hollow points (Sierra 1390) and lead tipped spitzers (Sierra 1365)do alright though as will any of the 50 grain bullets.

I've had the Sako 22-250 HB back in '74 and it wouldn't shoot any Sierra 55gr worth a hoot.

I then tried them in my Rem 700 and same thing, no good! So I then tired the Hor. 55 Vmax and they are doing just great in both the 700's (one has factory barrel and one a Shilen - both 1-14)

So I now have my 1970 Rem 700 shooting the Sierra 52 HP with excellent results and the Shilen barrel is driving the 55 Vmax with outstanding accuracy using H4895.

i have a savage 110 1/14 twist, for me the best 55gr are sierra gk spt and hpbt.i get great accuracy with them over 39.2 h380 or 35.5 varget.speer 55gr tnt not so much,as they need lotsa speed.

I have shot 55 grain Nosler Ballistic tips and 55 grain Sierra Gamekings (SBT) in my Remington SPS varmint in 22-250 (1:14 twist) both shoot 1/2" 5 shot groups at 100 yards. Varget is my powder of choice with both of these loads.

I can't speak for the 22-250, but my remmy in 223 with the 1:14 twist barrel does pretty well with 55grainers, but it much prefers the 50 and 40gr pills.

My Tikka in 1-14" twist won't shot any of the 55 grain plastic tipped bullet. Soft points or hollow points shoot fine

Is this a re-barreled 110? I thought all Savage's in 22-250 were 1-12" twist?

I have Winchester model 70 Varminter special with a 1/14 twist and it shoots the 55's great minute of p-dog to 400 yards.
