Shooting sticks poll.

I use the Gorilla Gear shooting sticks as well. They work great. My dad uses the full size tri-pod Primos trigger stick. I didn't care for them to much, a lot of extra weight.

LevelLok monopod!!! you can swing in any direction, any angle, up, down whatever. the only thing you can't do is use it as a rifle rest tripod. i don't care cause i use a dove bucket with a padded seat to carry all of my crap. plus the monopod acts as a hiking stick, just like the shooting sticks. i really like mine.

My harris bipod adjusts on the leg portion for uneven terrain in excess of six inches and it cants from left to right for any uneveness under three inches. Its the long one bipod harris makes, so I can sit down with it, then adjust it exactly how I like it. Plus it looks cool on my AR. I never thought about the choppin some old ski poles and rubber band idea though, that sounds really simple, cheap, and functional. I am definitely gonna try that out for my other rifles without a bipod. Oh, and the reason I dont use monopods is because I like the stability of a bipod, and if a situation arises where only a monopod can be used, I simply position the legs where they are right next to each other like so... )================ and it becomes a monopod like this! )----------------> Cool pictures huh!

I use Predator Sniper Styx. I call a lot of areas where I'm sitting on side hills and tucked in next to sagebrush and yuccas and with the sticks, it's much easier to set up in these types of situations. If I have to swing left or right, a fixed bipod can easily get hung up in the brush I'm sitting next to. The sticks are much more forgiving and are more easily positioned around obstacles. Worst case, I can always drop my sticks and just take an off-hand shot. While sitting on an incline, a fixed bipod can only get so long and the legs are at a fixed angle so many times they aren't high enough for you to get your rifle orientated where you want. With the sticks, you can move the legs closer or further apart to increase or decrease the height of your rifle. You may sacrifice a slight bit of accuracy with sticks only because they aren't fixed to your rifle and they aren't as stout, but none the less, I've never had any issues holding the crosshairs square on the chest of an incoming coyotes. A big A+ on Predator Sniper Styx from me!!!

I have tried them all from bipods to stony points sticks. I hunt with a Bushmaster 24" Varmitor and the bipod was just more weight and akward to carry and difficult to more if you have to reajust. I like the stony point sticks the best out of all the sticks I have tried.

Make your own. I have 3 pairs in my houe made from old pop tent poles. Walmart sales tent pole replacemenrt lits for 10 dollaes. Add a bike tube for a big rubberban an you have a set of sticks. Best part if they are lost cheap to replace. I would never spend more than 15 on a shooting stick.

I use the steady pod bipod setup. It folds up and hooks to your belt for traveling. It is also adjustable for uneven ground. The only thing is that it is not attached to the rifle and can slip if you try to move it too quick. I got lucky this morning and was able to get things back together in time to whack a nice male but I feel I was lucky. Next time I am going to secure them to the rifle with velcro strips. That way I dont have the weight of a bipode on the rifle when traveling but will have the mobility and secure hold while shooting. I wont go with out sticks of some kind I work too hard for a shot to miss plus I hate to leave an educated coyote out there. I am a terrible off hand shot but the sticks make even me look like I know what I'm doing.

i use harris although i never seem to be adjusted right when the dog arrives. 80 yards or less i shoot offhand or elbow to knee with no problem furthur than that if he gives me time to get the harris legs down he's done!

The shooting stix i have, the internal bungee cords are wearing out and stretching a bit....don't like the loose feeling it has now.

Anyone know if they are warranted?

Another vote for an adjustable monopod. I have a cheap remington one and it works great. Seems to be less movement than sticks as some have said, but I also just find it more comfortable to shoot from. I shoot from a chair, don't know if that makes a difference.

if you drill a hole into each side of the yoke rest of the monopod or your shooting sticks and then take some bungee or some strong rubber band type material and make a "top" that will secure it to your rifle. i think there is a production one made but i forget the name.

2 golf clubs with the heads cut off and lashed togather right below the grips with some camo paracord. Add some epoxy paste (JB Weld Stick) to fill the holes in the bottom and add some camo tape and call it good.
