I make my own cross sticks out of 36"x 1/2 inch wood dowels, work pretty good on un even ground but only good from a sitting or kneeling postion. cost prob 3-4 bucks.

What is that there that you used as the yoke to hold them together? I usually use a small piece of rubber bungee strap that I drill holes in and slip over the poles, but your way looks pretty interesting and effective. Thanks.
good idea will work just fine. Nice thing about this is there are plenty of golf shafts , I should know I repair lots of clubs in the summer. I keep some broken ones around all the time.
