Shooting the 25 DTI

After another blank stand this morning my buddy and I decided to lighten things up a bit and throw some lead down range. I had some test loads to shoot and just out of curiosity I replaced the lower on my DTI with a plum crazy unit that has been sitting in my closet for months. Naturally the wind was gusting to 20mph rocking the bench and the targets but we squeezed some good groups in anyway. The 87gr TNT shoots the lights out in my 25-06 and I have been wanting to try them out in this caliber.

Bottom left corner 75gr. vmax 5 shots under a half inch. If not for the wind I can usually get that load to go into one hole. Pretty normal.

The TNT's didn't shoot bad but, nothing really shoots bad out of this gun. I was more curious as to whether I would be able to run them fast like the 90gr. sierras or if they would create a lot of pressure like the 85gr. BT's. They showed pressure sign early so I will leave them for the 25-06.

Groups stayed under an inch for the most part. I would have to shoot these again in calmer weather to know how they would really do but anything close to an inch is a no-go with this gun.

The trigger on the plum crazy lower was heavier than I am used to but there is no creep. It breaks clean and it gives the impression of having a really fast lock time. Just the impression I got. I might have to get it an upper of it's own now.

Thanks for the update. Just got my 25DTI, gonna shoot it this morning, no chrono [beeep], just function and accuracy. Glad yours shoots so well!

That 75 gr Vmax load with H 322 looked good enough I just went and loaded some up to try. With some below it of course to work up to it.

Thanks for the Post. I'll report on the load in my 25 later

How fast are the 90gr Sierra's running? I am going to start with 87gr Sierra Varminter and the 90gr Sierra BK not sure what powder yet.

I can just about hit 3000fps with the 90gr Sierra Game Kings #1615. They can be pushed faster than any 85 or 87gr bullet I have tried so far. Maybe less bearing surface ? And they shoot just as good as the 75gr.Vmax's. If I ever deer hunt with this gun that is the bullet I will use.

If you do the math they are probably the most effective bullet in this caliber. The only reason I don't coyote hunt with them is I cannot afford to have any ricochet's where I hunt.

That would have been good to know, however seated to 2.260, they shot pretty good, just under 3/4 inch.

But not quite as good as this 3 shot group at 31.7 gr Xterminator, that I shot just before shooting the H322 loads.
