Should I uniform primer pockets?

Alright guys. I have some new 25-06 brass I am getting prepped up, and am wondering if it is necessary to uniform the primer pockets. I have done this a bit in the past, but to be honest, I hate this chore. I have already weighed and sorted the brass, and plan on deburring the flash holes, trim any cases that might need it, and turn the necks. If uniforming the primer pockets will make much of a difference I will do this also, but if it won't I plan to skip it. What do you guys do? Thanks for the help.

I made the chore easier by chucking the Lyman pocket uniformer tool head in my cordless drill, makes quick work of the process. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

wrongtarget is on the right target with the cordless drill. Taking the radius out of the bottom of the primer pocket keeps primers from drifting forward and aids in consistant ignition. You have already done a lot to make your loads more accurate than most reloaders, so I would say go for it...

As much as I hate doing it, I uniform mine...even on my pdog brass. For some reason, it seems to make them easier to clean after future firings, and it makes it much easier to seat primers with a hand priming tool.

So, yeah, I do it....but it doesn't mean I've gotta like it....... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I will uniform your primer pockets if you will deburr my flash holes. I use the K&M tool and it’s fairly painless.

Got to say it's probably not a bad idea. With that said I've been loading for 45 plus years and never have. I use one of the RCBS case prep tools and do clean them with the little wire brush that comes with that tool though. I've never had a problem with seating primers with Lee's little autoprime over the years and thru thousands and thousands of cases.

I have shot load burred, uniform, deburred, etc. If you are a serious target shooter, go for it.

For a coyoteman, you will not miss a coyote or get a FTF loading ammo right from the bag.

Almost imperceptable group size difference for me.

I use the sinclair uniformers and a dewalt drill,..done in minutes. I bought 2 of the drill adapters so I don't have to fool with changing cutters from large to small.

BTW, it is a waste of time to weigh-sort brass BEFORE sizing, trimming, deburring, chamforing, pocket uniforming and flash hole deburring FIRST. Perform these tasks and keep all brass shavings from each step,..then take all that brass and throw it on the scale. You would be suprised how much that stuff weighs. Some cases need more, and some less. Only after making each case identical to the others, do I start the weight seperating process,...and with a much lower spread in weights I might add. MHO YMMV
