Ours has to be weatherproof because its stays where we use it, basically. Delrin top and banquet table legs. Being just a bit flexible makes setting it up on uneven ground a snap. Had a little trouble getting the correct height stoll, my son and I are both tall, but nowadays it works excellent.

Here's what I built out of some treated lumber I had laying around. It's not light but I can load myself in the truck. It is solid and steady, which is why I built it.

Cheap and portable. A couple of folding sawhorses and a piece of plywood. I've shot a lot of small groups from this.

A portable bench would be nice, you guys have some very nice set-ups pictured /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif . I usually shoot of off anything I can get my hands on. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif
such as sticks....
or a pack....
or even just a rock....
once in awhile I'll just sling up and skip a front rest completely....I need to work on that more /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif , as you can see there are 3 empty pieces of brass in the stockpack....and only one whistlepig in the photo /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We've used everything from no rest, mounds, bags, piece of carpet, pallets, rocks, trees, our knees, hood of the truck all in the interest of improving shooting skills. Doesn't take much skill to set the rifle on a table and pinch the trigger. But a good table will put you on them way out there beyond where I would actually 'hunt' something.
Mine has a 'tactical Broncos folding tailgater seat'.
We've used everything from no rest, mounds, bags, piece of carpet, pallets, rocks, trees, our knees, hood of the truck all in the interest of improving shooting skills. What I use is not very portable /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif but plenty solid. The top weighs over 500lbs.
