If you were going to stock up on SHTF 5.56/.223 ammo, what would you get and where would you get it?

I'm talking reliable and easy on the pocket book?

How many rounds? How big is you "pocket book." What kind of projectile you want?

Cabelas usually has good bull deals. Look for a sale.

55 gr FMJ's and benchmark...will shoot in any 223, and they can be found pretty cheap. For factory, I don't really know but when shtf anything that will shoot will be good.

I'd go back in time bout 7-10 years , buy twice the amount you get for todays prices.

Right now, I would start reloading any weight bullet, preferably 50-62 grains with a temp stable powder. Whatever you can get your hands on, load it and store it.

If you want to purchase, then get Wolf or Prvi Partizan as they seem to be the least expensive.

Hornady 55gr fmj's are really accurate. I got a ton of them loaded over benchmark. They are the most accurate fmj iv ever shot. Remington fmj factory stuff isnt that bad, shoots with decent accuracy. If u go stell case stuff try the brown bear. Its a little better than wolf.

Forgot about Brown Bear...1000rds for $221.95 at ammunitiontogo.

Good catch!

Academy has Monarch FMJ and SP ammo for pretty cheap.

I reload so I can make my own pretty cheap. I load 50 grain Nosler BT's. I want a little more speed out of my 16" M4 than the 65-70 grain FMJ's.

I'm not anti "non brass" cases by any means, but if you are looking to store ammo for a long period of time I would stay away from steal case. They don't really lacquer seal them anymore and they will rust pretty easy. Just my two cents.

I bought 500 rounds of ss109 but they are pricey. I ordered 1000 rounds of Tula 62gr hp from cheaper than dirt and got it to my door for about 265

Hey Nate, can't remember off the top of my head if we have an Academy in AZ, but we sell a 420rnd can of M855's for $170.

Chupa

For me it would depend on what kind of SHTF. If I'm expecting zombies I'd probably go cheap FMJ. This is operating off that you have to hit them in the head to incapacitate and seemingly wound channels don't really matter.

If I was expecting LA Riots, I'd want something that will reliably expand and create a wound channel.
