Side Charging Handle??

Who out there has an upper reciever with a side charging handle option? How do they perform? Do your recommend them? Plus and Minuses On the AR 15 Platform.. How much did they cost you compared to standard.. you got any pictures??? Thanks!!

I have a LAR right only charging and a LAR ambi. I've had no issues with either of mine. I think having a chargign handle on the left of the gun like ASA or the ambi LAR is nice and would recommend that first. I don't think they are good for "combat" guns or that sort but hunting or precission work I like its features.

I built a 6x45 off the LAR side charger and really love it. When I puchased mine I believe it was $350 IIRC. I really do like not haveing the CH under the scope.

6x45, 18" Black Hole Weaponry, mid-length gas, std contour bbl, LAR lower & LAR side charging upper. THe colors are all FDE. VLTOR EMOD buttstock, Ergo Tactical grip, MI handgard and the Leupy VX3 LR 4.5-14x40 from their custom shop.

I shoot 75 gr VMax in it. Definately one of my favorites.

I went with LAR OPS4 right hand side charger too. It comes with a nickel boron bcg. If you factor in the price you'll pay for a stripped upper, nickel boron bcg, dust cover and fa assembly your looking at no price difference. Haven't shot it yet, waiting for parts to get hydro dipped and barrel to get fluted. But after initial assembly I liked it much more then a standard ar charging handle. If you shoot an auto shotgun you'll feel right at home.

I have two now with side chargers and love both. They are really handy on hunting ARs because the charger is on the side and out of the way of the scope.

I have a whitley built 6mmar with right side charge and top. I like it real well except you need to redesign your brass catcher a bit, the catcher needs to be flexable so you can get your hand under it to use the side charge. I catch all brass, especally the fire formed ones.

Is the free float tube factory or a custom coating?? How did you get the scope to match the same?? Awesome Awesome looking gun!!! How does she shoot??

Everything on the gun is a factory coating. It is all FDE, but from different manufacturers so there are real slight differences in the color....but they are very slight! The handgaurd's is Midwest Industries SS series. I ordered the scope from Leupold custom shop. It is anodized in their FDE....took about 4 months to get

It shoots really well. I have tried quite a few bullets and the only thing I wasn't pleased with is what I built the gun for....the 65 gr VMax!

Just could never get them to shoot well. Maybe could have put in a bit more development time, but thought that I had given it adequate effort.

I am going to order a LAR side charger as soon as I get the "in stock" email from Joebob's. I have never had my hands on one, but I sure like the concept. $289.99 with BCG doesn't seem too bad for a upper.
