Hey Catshooter, Why are you all over everyone correcting them? You have corrected two people in this single post. I don't think that Derek Theobald and CreekHunter are here posting false information just to have something to talk about, cut these guys some slack go with the flow. Thruth be known, they may have some information that you could learn from if you would listen instead of rebultling every comment that you think may be untrue. Evveryone, we are all here to have some fun and enjoy each others comments, lets keep it light and have some fun.

I wasn't the only one that corrected it.

Bad info is bad info - do you want to keep passing on mis-information from board to board?

It just gets passed from post to post.

I know the M118LR round very well... I build rifles for it.

Coburn Research Labs is my company...

Believe what you want.

catshooter, i'm sure you know the m118 lr very well as do I..I wear one around my neck it's called a hog's tooth.. my hog's tooth is a 175gr smk because that's what I passed sniper school with and sgt. hartman and sgt jenson pinned it on me! but I used a 173 lr to earn my combat action ribbon and before my e.a.s.I brought home alot of 168 smk(m855) match lift over from testing.. People can look at all the web sites and read all the solider of fortune mag they want because it really doesn't matter to me because i didn't read it or hear about it i done it!! 8541 snakebite5

Why are they so much cheaper than Hornady , berger, nosler? I found where you can get 100 Varminters for $9.99. All the other brands of varmint bullets are $15and up for 100.

I'm not sure where you are buying your bullets but I've always found Hornady to be about the cheapest along with Speer.

Price check.

All of those other varmint bullets are probably the plastic tip type. I think we're talking apples and oranges here.

Last I read somewhere, Federal runs, or manages, LC Arsenal.
So, it's very possible that they use their "Match" load, utilizing the Sierra 168gr. match bullet for military application.

I used the Federal Match ammo when I went through the FBI sniper/observer school back in the late 90's. Even though I went through Federal's ballistic's courses at the same time, I don't remember them saying anything about running the LC facility.
I've only read that they have been running it within the last year or so.

FWIW,

Bob
