I would like to know what everyone thinks about the Sig pistols in 40 S&W. Specifically, I am looking in to purchasing one in a P226. I was reading online about their different trigger options and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the new DAK system and its reliability. Also any info about the gun's overall reliability. I currently own an XD 40. How will this weapon compare in quality and ease of shooting to the Springfield? Thanks

IME sigs are extremely reliable. i haven't had one of the new ones, but have a 220,226,228,239,&230 now. (i kinda like sigs)the accuracy on the if excellent. the triggers are OK but not great, and the sights the same. the 220 is possibly the most reliable 45 I own (and that covers quite a few)
 
Excellent handguns, in the hands of the most elite LE/Mil units. We carry them but I am not fond of the 40 S&W. I have a P226R with both barrels. Prefer the .357 Sig. There is no comparison to the XD40 in my opinion. DAK is a double action only with about 6-lb trigger pull. See no need for a DAO. Trigger systems can be changed out as they all fit the same type of guns. SRT is one of the best. Sig can be set up to fit the shooters hand better than most of its competition. Resale value is pretty good too.
 
I carried a P226 in .40 caliber for about two years on duty. It never missed a beat. Sig's are amazingly reliable and accurate semi-auto handguns. I'm not a fan of the double to single action trigger system and prefer the 1911 .45 ACP. I had to really concentrate on trigger reset as I was so used to the short reset of the 1911. As soon as I was able to carry my 1911 .45 ACP I dropped the Sig. However, in fairness the P226 was a fine pistol and I shot it about as well as anything else.
 
my favorite handgun,..hands down. My 226 is the most accurate pistol I own,...even better than my Kimber.

+1 on the 357sig,...bad azz chambering and very Accurate.
 
My dept switched from the Sig 226 9mm to the Sig 229 .40 and now the HK USP in .45 over a span of 10 or so years. Better gun with each switch. The HK's are varient 3 which duplicates the SIG de-[beeep].
 
I carry a Sig 226 9mm at work, very accurate and dependable pistol. Never had a problem with mine having fired thousands of rounds though it.
 
I've ordered over 150 now and can say I LOVE this pistol. Our's are P226Rs, 357 Sig caliber, factory installed Hogue rubber grips, short triggers, Sig-sites, and rubber floorplates. We've been carrying them since 7/03 and haven't had a problem yet 'cept for the factory never putting loctite on the grip screws. I don't have much experience with the 40 S&W though, but I can vouch for the 357 Sig.
 
While I like sig's, I prefer H&K's. I would love to find a NIB German 228, but alas, it is harder than grandpa on a 30 day supply of viagra.

I like H&K's in 45 (I own a full and a compact) and would love them in 10mm if H&K ever smartened up. Till then, Glock 20.

I was thinking of getting the Glock 20 in 10mm for my bear carry gun but I just bought a S&W 629 in 44. I had it at the range tonight. What a handful. I think I still might buy the 10mm for winter use.

I never saw the utility of the 9mm and 10mm revolvers. Why choose the 9mm over a .38/.357? Or the 10mm over a .41 Magnum? Other than for novelty. Now, the .45ACP in a revolver makes lots of sense to me.
 
GC, the main reason for me to choose the 9mm over the .357 was due to the fact that I have SEVERAL Glocks, and subscribe to the theory KISS, most of my autos are Glocks.
