Sightmark in the cold

I bought a Sightmark Wraith that I finally took out in the cold last winter. I walked about 1/4 mile in probably 10 degrees F. By the time I got to my stand and set up to call, the Wraith had enough power to turn on, then went dead. The 4 AA batts were fine, but I assume it was just too cold for the electronics in the scope. Im planning to buy a different night scope after this, hopefully thermal. Has anyone else had this happen with other brands of night vision or thermal? I just don't want to spend a bunch of money on something that will give me the same problem as most of my calling will be in the cold.

I would give Sightmark a call. I saw one spec that said 5F and one that said -13F. I couldn't find anything on Sightmark's site except it only shows 20F on the Sightmark 2x model.

I have used the Hogster line up from Bering Optics down to -20F. It is only rated to -14 but that is when the unit gets to this temp. They also direct the heat towards the screen to help keep it from freezing. I would look towards the Bering Optics Hogster line up. They have 3 models based on FOV and magnification requirements.

What sucks here in Mn, the DNR has a notation in this year's regs. The use of an IR light is NOT legal, exception after Jan 1, with shotgun only.
