sightron S1 3X9 X 40 ???s

I just bought a Sightron SI 3 to 9 for my 6 year old's .243. The scope was new in the box and I got it for 70 bucks. It appears to be well built and pretty clear for a cheap scope. It is a little lower quality than I would have liked but I just can't seem to spend a whole bunch on a scope to top a cheep gun.

Is this scope junk? Do the lower end Sightrons hold up? Do they stayed zeroed?

For $70 bucks was there a better option?

Thanks

You won'r find a better warranty. I have 3 of the S-1s and I am very happy with them. I also have a 4-12x42 that works wonders when I do my part...

While I'm a huge Sightron fan, I have not been able to bring myself to give the SI a try. Not saying it won't serve you well, as it probably will. I just have been so impressed with their other lines, that I just haven't needed to a take a chance on the SI. Like you said, for a lower line scope, it does seem to be put together well and it does have Sightrons full warranty. The lenses are not fully coated like the other lines though. But I wouldn't expect it to be for what they list for. I'd be really interested in your feedback on the SI after you have spend a little time with it at the range.

Where did you get it for $70, as that's a lot less then dealer price?

From a buddy who worked in sporting goods and has had it around in his house for a couple of years. He has other Sightrons scopes, but they were higher end like S2s and S111s ?? more than I could justify at this time right after the holidays and for the Rossi I am putting it on.

I am mounting it tomorrow and will try to shot it next week after work.

Let you know how I like it.

I fully understand about having to regroup from the holidays. Your in good company there, as I always go overboard this time of year. For $70 dollars you really can't go wrong, as that was a good buy.

Looking forward to you feedback on the SI!

I have one on a single shot .22 hornet, and let me tell you that outfit is one fine "smite machine"! Scope holds zero and is more than clear enough. I don't think you could have found more scope for even twice that much!

Thanks, Cool or irresponsible if you ask my sister. For Christmas he got a gun. I know it was one of the few gifts I could give him he would have use for a long time. He has been shooting his red rider at the farm for 3 years and he is very good at safety now. He wanted a real gun so he could go hunt coyotes with me.

man it was a great Christmas seeing his eyes when he got his gun.

Sister is mistaken the truth is that if you develop your life habits prior to age 6 and if you dont get started with gun safety before that you will not be as good at your safe gun handling skills. I started at age 3 with my grandfather teaching me with a 22 by age 6 I had a 30-06 and some reduced loads. You are doing the righ thing sis is wrong but then women dont have to become responsible adults and men do.
