silhouette steel source??

What's a good source for making coyote silhouette targets out of steel like Byron has in one of his early videos? I've been trying to think of source material, and I'm not coming up with much.

Alternatively, what do you all use as source material for DIY steel circular targets?

If I was going to do it, I'd call up the local metal salvage yard and see what they had to offer. Shipping that stuff through the mail is going to rack up quite the bill.

I'm just sayin.

This is a link to some steel targets for sale on another forum,
It doesnt really give a source but may answer some questions on what type of steel to use or Not use.

If linking isnt kewl please delete this post, My intent is not for sale of targets but it give some ideas of to the types of steels and what works for pistol vs rifle rounds.

Thanks for the tips guys.

I buy mine at the local scrap yard. I can usually find some pretty good pieces that are already close in size to what I need. I do try to get the 3/4" or thicker stuff as most of it is usually softer than optimum and the thicker stuff will take hits better.

i made some targets
i made a cutout of a Crow,woodchuck and a yote
out of 3/4 inch Advantex with a Sheet of lewan glued to frt and back of it
the for the metal part i made a cut out of the Vital area and put on a 1/4 inch steel disk to a hinge
when you hit it it flips up and dings pretty good
when you miss you just pop a hole in the target that can be filled with caulk
its cheap and works good

I just didn't want to see you paying $50 for shipping on something you could have probably bought local for cheap.
