Silicon cloths for wiping down guns

I've been using a Beeman brand silicon cloth to wipe fingerprints off guns that just get handled in between cleanings. The Beeman seemed to have a lot of silicon, removed prints great, left a visible but thin film of silicon behind that seemed to protect my guns great.

Recently I tried a new Beechwood Casey brand silicon cloth as I decided to keep one right in my gun cabinet. I couldn't see any of the light oily swirls when I used it like I do with the Beeman. I spent 10 minutes wiping various items trying to see if the Beechwood one had any silicone or was just a dry cloth. It did not leave any residue whatsoever when I wiped a mirror surface. I'm still not sure what is going on with that new one. I went and got my Beeman and it was niiiiice, but eventually I know I will need to replace.

Anybody know of a really good silicon cloth? I'm not too impressed with the Beechwood Casey.

I have one that I bought at wal-mart and its either Remington or Winchester brand. I have had it for almost 4 years now and still plenty of siclicone. The package says its guaranteed to never dry up. Works great. Everytime I wipe a gun down you can see the silicone on it. Ive been looking for another one just to have it incase but I cant seem to find them anymore around here. Other than that I have no experience with any other brand. Josh

Speaking of silicon cloths...I need to get me one mines 'bout out of silicon..lol

I use Remington Brand as well stright from Wally World. It's done right by my guns.

I went down to my gun room and I was mistaken. Mine is Mossy Oak brand. I dont know why I was thinking Remington or Winchester. I seen some kind of cloth at Wal-Mart the other day in the gun section but I dont think that it had silicone in it. They also have a gun sock that is soaked in silicone for storing a rifle.

I too have seen the "other" style wiping cloths and not sure about them. They say they are good for actually cleaning the gun and removing powder, etc. and good for wiping down the gun? I just want to find a good silicone cloth that puts down a decent silicone film. Has always worked well for me.

Why not get a spray can of silicone lube and give the cloth a shot occasionally to keep it charged up?

I use a cotton shop rag with a heavy spray of Break Free CLP, and keep it in a zip lock bag. When it starts feeling dry I just load it up again.
I try to keep one in the zipper pockets on my soft cases, and one on top of the safe.

Works for me.

I had a silicone cloth that started getting slim on silicone, I gave it a shot of CLP and continue to use CLP on it periodically, no need for silicone now.

I have had pretty good luck with the Birchwood casy ones. They end up getting oil on em anyway when i wipe a gun off.I tried some of the other ones that look simular like the Hoppes.Trouble i had with some of the other brands is they left lint on my guns.I do have a new remington one and it does look to be a good type without leaving lint.
