Sit on the ground or on a stool

I use my Turkey vest...Lots of pockets, FoxPro fits in pocket or you have the bigger ones youve got the game bag in the back. Works great!

I use one of the rectangular shaped self inflating seats from wal-mart I've seen them in about all the outdoor supply catalogs there cheap about 10 bucks . The part I like is there pretty comfortable and you wear around your waist like a belt you dont even have to undo the latch when you sit down so you cant forget it . The only bad thing is if you sit on a thorn (it has to be a stout one) you can poke a hole in it , but theres also a foam cushion in it and even with no air in it its comfortable enough for the amount of time I sit at one stand.I dont even know its on my waist its light and very handy . And it leaves your hands free to pack all the other stuff.

Last year at the PM hunt, Michael McCasland and I hunted together. He has a 6' wooden step ladder he hunts with. We took 2 coyotes and a badger. Just set up in front of a tree or bush. The animals don't seem to mind it and it is sure easier to see down into the brush. We also used a small stool with shooting sticks. It's a lot easier on the old bod than sitting on the ground!

I have been using a turkey seat...especially with snow on the ground...I dislike being wet and cold while hunting. I have stools too, but have only used my turkey seat so far.

Cabela's has a new seat out.Its called The Gobbler Lounger. Its 19.95.It folds up and has a back and Has a camo bag to put it in.I have tried lots of foam pads and chairs over the yrs. This thing I got saturday used yesterday and today.Best most comfortable chair I've ever used for hunting! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Look it up on their web site, like I said its new for this yr.I would pay 50.00 for a nice camo chair like this after using it!

The problem with chairs - is they have LEGS!
To limiting because of terrain angle, roots, etc. Well boys and girls Last season my treestand was stolen, and instead of going back to a cushion, or using my colapsable chair with Legs - I bought a Summit trophey Seat.
This thing is only a few pounds, sets up in a minute. Plus once it's set-up the only thing on the ground are your feet! It uses support from the tree your against. Which by the way does not have to be straight up and down. You can set it up for almost any height needed. Even used it last year in an old wood tree stand missing a place to sit. With this thing you can actually put it above a limb for your feet to be on. Best thing, sat in it for a long time, hours and my @ss didn't go numb. It also has a back cushion/support. Might not use it everytime out but it sure comes in handy for that woodland spot you couldn't quite sit into before.

On flat open areas like frozen sloughs and rivers I use the turkey/coyote seat ArkyYoter spoke of. I hollow out a snow bank in cattails and use the bank for a back rest. The only thing above the snow is your head and the bank if hard enough works well with a bi-pod.

Hilly wooded terrain I use a tri-pod seat with a back. Fold up jobby with a strap. I find a deadfallen tree and setup inside using the tree to steady shots.

Note: both practices are not desert friendly.

I sit on the ground and use a seat I got at WallyWorld. Comes with a belt. Never lose it!!!
