Skinning knife

What I want to know is what the heII happened to this thread? The screen is suddenly three feet wide and the pictures disappeared! Oh wait, I see the pictures... way over yonder now. It wasn't like that before, what happened?

It's TBonz fault.
That link he posted spread the screen.
The Irony is,,, the link doesn't even work LOL.

A good mod would fix that but we're stuck with Venetic.

He's probably out hunting instead of baby setting this forum like he's supposed to:)

I was thinking the same thing Ken, my knives must represent multiple personality disorder...

Brian,,, if knives are the barometer, Ken's gotta be the KING of multiple personalities.

We're all quite sane compared to him.

Hard telling but fortunatly I don't "carry" mine.
Wouldn't want it to reflect on my Curmudgeon persona;)

Don't want anything tarnishing that Charlie. Mine has never left the house, the only thing the sheath is used for is to hold extra replacement blades.

Yep... As Repete stated, them links TBone posted back here.... http://www.predatormastersforums.com/for...782#Post2553782 were too long with no breaks in them, so the board stretches until there's something that resembles a break to the board's brain, and wraps the link, however since the break really isn't a break, it breaks the link so it don't work either, and since it don't work the board's brain don't know it's a link, so it doesn't automatically condense it and prevent all of that bull pucky from happening.

It's kinda like government, the left hand don't know what the right hand is doing, and both are working independently of each other, rather than working toward the good of a common goal. One is trying to shorten the link, so the screen isn't 12 miles wide, before the other fixes the problem by condensing the link, and in doing so the first is depriving the second of it's ability to fix the problem. Sorta like Obama and Reid holding up Congress to approve raising the debt ceiling so they can spend more money, rather than address necessary budget cuts Congress is suggesting, and nothing getting done in the process, except for finger pointing, and parks closing.

You must have a different model than I have. Mine doesn't have a sheath. It's the Piranta,,, about the size of a med. sized pocket knife.
The knife was a gift from a friend (and member here) so if it's the measure of a man,,, I'm OK with that.

Mines the piranta also, it came with a cheap cordura pouch/sheath that holds the knife and blades. It's about useless, so yours not coming with one is no great loss.

I know the bushcraft crowd's crazy about them but I can't remember ever seeing anyone recommend one for a dedicated skinner before.
Don't see why they wouldn't work though providing they aren't too big and fit "your" hand well.

Course the plastic handles and sheath's say allot about the man using them

but at least they're 1095 steel.

Used packing house boning knives in the shed and a 194OT at the tree.

Oh, and I do believe that the knife in your pocket says something about you. Amazing how many people don't carry one but would love to borrow mine.....

True that^
Kinda like the guy who doesn't wear a watch yet needs to ask you what time it is every fifteen minutes.

Q) What time is it.

A) Time for you to buy a watch.

RePete,

Seeing your post where you mention the little WoodsWalker from AG Russell I recall about 18 years ago in KY a old retired Navy guy had a very similar knife like this WoodsWalker and this guy used it on everything from small game to mostly Coyote and Foxes. We all called him the deerskinner cuz people would drop off their deer for him to skin and quarter out. I always wondered what brand of knife he had but I am not sure if it was a Woodswalker. I am curious how does this hold an edge? I am kind of tired using my pocket knife to skin small game and get schit between the blades when they are closed which makes it a bear to clean and keep oiled. Anyway I am thinking of this Woodswalker...thanks for bringing this up.

Course,,, that's no fun so I try one or two new ones every year.
This year it's one of the Havalon's BigSky mentioned and a KOA cub. I'll let ya know how that works out in late Feb when our fur season ends.
I will say though that one of the best skinners I've found over the years is the little WoodsWalker that AG Russel sells. Nothing fancy or expensive about em but I haven't been without one since I bought my first 20+ years ago.
Luck
