Ukraine has been resilient in the new battlefield, via drone technology. And they continue to share that information with the U.S. (Not sure why when the U.S. leadership continues to insult and ridicule Ukraine). Unlike you and me and America, the Ukrainians know what it is like to live under a dictatorship, Communist rule. And yet, Americans believe they are shielded from ever being attacked. We enjoy a higher standard of living thanks to European countries, allies, trade relations for decades. Now? 2025 and counting…a President Trump wants to isolate us. Same as his VP, the guy beholden to tech giant Peter Thiel for millions of campaign dollars who cares not about yours or my own personal data and privacy.
Trump continues to piss off, insult our allies of 70+ years with the failure of his own efforts to “end the war in Ukraine”.

Our current President continues to tout, support his “buddy, the Russian dictator Putin. As well as his VP JD Vance with his praise of Curtis Yarvin, many times quoting his writings (Yarvin is a “far Right” disciple of the Commie philosopher and Putin buddy Aleksandr Dugin) and let’s not forget the traitorous and conservative media darling Tucker Carlson’s propaganda that praises Russia (Carlson has Trump’s ear) and its dictator Putin these days.

So, even with all that, the U.S. should be supporting the people of Ukraine against their invaders the Russian Communists. But our leaders don’t know history, don’t read. Hell, 90% of Americans don’t either.
Donald Trump doesn’t read. He gets his advice from Faux News reports. And he and his administration continue to be surrounded by Russian sympathizers/influence.

One day, we will learn the hard way that our Allies left us. Our country will be invaded and overtaken. All our allies will have joined our Communist enemies, the regimes in Russia and China because America turned its back on its friends.

Like it or not, the GOP has now been infiltrated by the Communists, 2024-25 same as the Democrat Party was in the mid ‘80’s.

So what does Ukraine offer us? Why should we fund them? What’s to gain?

Unlike you and me and America, the Ukrainians know what it is like to live under a dictatorship, Communist rule.

Yes that is very true, and yet they choose to do so voluntarily on or about Christmas day in 1917, finally nailing the foundation to the Iron Curtain in 1922 within a treaty forming the USSR . One cannot forget they are one of the original founding members of the USSR. They are just as communist, or socialist as the Russians are or hope to be.
Ukraine has fathered, or had roots in the leadership of the USSR more than Russia or any other country forming the USSR.
Lenin was born in Russia, Stalin was of Georgian linage, after that mostly all was either born in Ukraine or had ancestry from there.

So the question I pose is should we repeat the mistake of what we did in Cuba, which you so generously used for comparison? Fidel Castro freely, and actually admitted to the American people on national TV that he was not a Communist. And he spoke the truth, he merely failed to state he was a Socialist, his brother well yeah he was a Communist. But that was not the question posed, it was are you a Communist? His reply No. Best part was the Castro's family was not of Cuban descent, but that of Spain. This should have been the warning bell for American intel agencies. But was overlooked or ignored, hindsight is 20/20 while foresight is often short sighted.

Make no mistake about it "WE" helped setup Fidel only to wind up with egg on our face. When he took over the country of Cuba in his desired direction. I am of the opinion that POTUS Kennedy made a grave error, in NOT fully supporting the Bay of Pigs operation, thus allowing it to fail on the beaches of Cuba. But that is a opinion, is it the right one, well we will never know, it failed.

Would it be in our best interest to pit the Socialist's and the differing Communist against each other??? Maybe, Maybe not. But in my opinion Volodymyr Zelenskyy is just as much a communist as Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is. They just differ in the fact that they think which one should be in charge. Although Zelenskyy history is in acting prior to becoming "President" while Putin's history is with the KGB, and the Stazi (East Germany's version of the KGB) before becoming "President", funny how just adopting a title of "President" makes a Socialist or Communist more agreeable than "Chairman" or even "Supreme Leader" to more Democratic counties.

Would I be inclined to help send American Socialist or Communist to help them in their struggles as in airfare to the Ukrainian front lines .... maybe. Maybe not. From this Old warrior's view they are the differing faces /sides of the same coin when discussing Ukraine vs today's Russia.

Truth be told they already invaded when Germany's Fascist kicked out the Socialist from Germany when the NAZI party was coming to power. Those same "higher" learning Professor's embedded themselves into the education system here, and finally the Democrat party. Effectively overtaking both. The battle is here not just in Ukraine. History is wrote by the Victor, in case your not noticing history is being rewritten now everyday by those same socialist ideology that fled Germany .
I seriously doubt we will ever see the movie "Red Dawn" play out, I fear it will be from within.

Am I okay with a modern day Land-Lease Agreement with Ukraine, Yes, you want weaponry? We get the mineral rights, and we dig baby dig. But give them Money? Hades NO, just stuff from the stock piles, we have at adjusted prices for mineral ore. In example a F-15 built in the 1980's with a price adjusted for today's cost, those funds placed back to the DoD/ DoW coffers. Items then transferred to them, but we want that amount of minerals from them FIRST Delivered. Jet cost 15 million I would expect 15 million in ore in my ports. Same for everything, drones, small arms, armor, artillery, ammunition, intelligence (which was our greatest tool for them).

Lest we forget that Russia as a nation has NEVER forgiven us for invading their country in 1917, not just one time but in multiple expeditions (three IIRC). I doubt they ever will, I'm of the belief that this also weighs heavily on Putin's mind in the background causing a simple distrust that has shaped decades of foreign relations.
Are the POTUS and the President of Russia buddies? I highly doubt it, do they have a rapport? I hope so, MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) doctrine is not a winning strategy for nuclear powers. While POTUS Reagan did take us away from that Doctrine a bit. We could find ourselves back at it's very same door steps.
Do I fear the Bear? Nope, not at all, do I respect the Bear? Yep, never mess with one unless I have the upper hand.
Always have a plan to kill everyone in the room said one old warrior, sage advice I've often thought.

In closing thank you for your opinion, even if I actually reject a lot of it. As I'm sure you will most likely reject most of mine. Isn't it great to live in a Nation that we can do so freely (for now)?

As if we always have to take a side with the foreign world...how about we mind our own business and take the America first side for once and to hell with everyone else. We're 38 trillion in debt...we can't afford to give all of our money away to the foreign world anymore. A foreign world that doesn't do sqaut in return except wipe their @$$es on the American taxpayer along with our political class.

I can make pretty equal cases for doing nothing to support Ukraine and providing lots of support, so it seems that we have roughly equal chances of being right (or wrong) with each choice

SGT Mike - I made the mistake of making a comment about Castro as a kid. Dad straightened me out. I got assigned to a ship that just came back from 'point' of Cuba and we wondered if we were going back. Guys were GQ for24/7. Knew a guy that was U boat driver for 'Pigs', his comment was interesting. Ukraine was trying to separate from Ru but Ru keeps infiltrating till they could take over. Normal commie practice. It's their plan.
