Slow twist 22 creedmoor, who’s done it?

Forgot to update this. I ordered a 1-12 twist barrel from PBB. My gunsmith is getting a reamer from Mansons next week. He’s going to chamber it for the 53 grain vmax specifically. I’m going to be his test dummy haha.

Hopefully I have some results to share in the next month or so.

The Mansons reamer came in yesterday. My barrel should be in by the end of the week too. Hopefully this thing works out.

Personally I like the 12 twist in the light weight .22 projectiles.
The Creedmoor case is a really good choice, I could throw out the .224 TTH aka 22-6mm based on the 6mm Rem (224 Remington) necked down to 22 as a contender. But honestly even though cases lengths are different I'm not sure the case capacity isn't if it is not by much. I suspect it's probably a wash.

If it was MINE, I would probably do exactly the same build as you have described. It will be interesting to see the results once completed. I'm looking forward with a keen interest to you posting results, wishing you the best of luck.
Regards
Mike

Well PBB didn’t fulfill their turn around time and required a follow up phone call. Then they sent the wrong barrel. Supposedly the correct ones being delivered this week.

Hopefully I’ll be able to provide some data once I get back from next weeks work trip. I really hate waiting on companies screw ups. I even paid extra to get the barrel sooner.

Ok it’s done and these are the first 18 rounds down the barrel. Haven’t run into pressure signs at 40gr of Varget. It was 100 degrees when I shot these groups too.

Hat's off to you sir, Keep us informed on progress. Thank you for taking the time to post this.

Got first blood with the new gun this morning. Went out to my father in laws farm for the 4th and braved the mosquitoes for a couple stands. Can’t post the picture because there’s nothing left of the head. So far, I’m glad I made this a 15 pound gun because it’s pleasant to shoot off the tripod.

Head shot with the new 22 Bloodline, 53gr vmax, Nocpix H50R.

Update. This PBB barrel and chamber job from my gunsmith has been a tack driver! I’m at 48 rounds down the tube so far and well under an inch for all 5-9 round groups. I finally got over 4,000 fps with 41 grains of Varget. Based on the small sample size and shooting on a hot chamber, I haven’t run into pressure at that charge. It just so happens to shoot very well too. Think I’ll go break it in on a prairie dog town soon.

Still pleased with the decision to build it heavy because it’s next to no recoil. My 4 year old even got in on the shooting today.

Very Nice.
The results you posted really confirmed my thoughts, as I had entertained the very same thoughts you posted early on.
Which led to the question I posted about the new Remington's.
I might have to try this at some point.
Your brass what is the primer size you use? Just curious. Outside the primer pocket life I don't think it makes a difference much.
I am assuming you stuck with the 22" barrel length.

Just using the alpha munitions large rifle primer brass. I know the alpha stuff is pretty tough but I’ve got three firings on it so far and it really isn’t expanding. I’ll be happy to get 5-6 firings out of it.

It’s actually an 24 inch barrel. There was a miscommunication between myself and my smith on barrel. He’ll cut it down if I want but I really don’t mind at this point.

I just got some quick load data on this set up and it’s about 100-200fps off from my real life velocity. But here’s the data for the 53 vmax and a few different powders. According to quick load, I still have another grain to go until I’m at “peak” pressure. I’ll keep pushing it but I’m fairly content at 41grains of Varget for now. I might try superformance too but I’ve got pounds of Varget to burn through now.

Found pressure at 42 grains of Varget today. It showed up as a slightly heavy bolt lift on the 5th round fired. I’m at 63 rounds down the barrel now without a cleaning. I’m going to clean it and reshoot 41.5 and 42 grains again.
