Smart Battery Chargers

What do you use & what features do you really like?

I've been looking them over on amazon, quite a lot to choose from. Some get fairly expensive, a wide range of features & functionality to choose from. I'm thinking I'd like one that can do 8 or more batteries, seeing as how my fury & some of my metal detectors use 8 at a time.

Some callers use 10.

I used to use a Maha battery charger, but after it literally melted apart while I was charging some batteries I have stayed far clear of them. I am just glad I was home at the time because I hate to think of what could have happened. Apparently, the melting down is not an isolated occurance if you read the reviews on Amazon. Anyways, I have switched to this charger and so far I really like it. The great thing is is that it has 16 bays, so you can get all your batteries charged in one sitting. It also comes with a 12 volt car adapter, so you can use it in your vehicle.

I've seen several 10's but so far that 16 is the biggest single unit I've seen.

Some of the features available I like are the ability to discharge/recondition a battery to correct memory issues & sometimes revive a dead battery. Having each channel independent is good -my energizer requires charging in pairs- and getting feedback on the status of each cell I like. Some do that with a simple progress bar, others provide numbers. Don't know that it matters to me.

all predtor calls has this one but its 12.

apc battery charger

That looks like a nice, affordable one. Especially at that price / 12 2600ma cells.

It does seem to lack some of the more advanced features, such as recondition a cell & the ability to set the charge rate. Slower provides longer battery life over time.

But extra features mean extra cost, so it comes down to the balance of what you want vs what you'll spend.

I think that is the one. What is the best price you have seen and what batteries u plan on getting. I need to order one for the arrival of the shockwave. Thanks

I need a room just for all my batteries and chargers

on batteries for these callers, look at the ma rating. some are low, 2000ma. I'm thinking for these callers we're better off using 2400 or 2600ma ones.

After all this research I decided to go with the lithium battery pack for Shockwave. Dont want to spend the time pulling batteries out. Plus i read that lithium work better in cold weather..

that may be true, dunno. I don't have cold enough temps to worry about it, I think.

[beeep], right now I can't even go calling. no land to hunt on. I'm just taking care of my stuff for when that changes.

my energizers are 2300ma, the foxpros aren't marked.

energizers come with different ratings. I have a bunch of dead ones & called them about replacements. I was asked to check the rating on each one, as they said mixing them in their chargers won't work. Since all of mine are 2300, that's not the problem.

I have (2) MH-C9000's by Powerex and (1) MH-C808M charger and they have been working very good for the last 4 yrs now.

Good deal here right now.

I have been buying more and more of the Sanyo XX (2500 mAh) batteries, they seem to be holding up much better than the 2700 Powerex that I have.

My total battery count is; 92.
AA, AAA, D and 18650's.

Oh - it would be wise to get a battery checker also, they can be found at the above link.

This is what I have and it works excellent! USA made.
