Smokeless Powder in a T/C Omega??

ultralite arms make muzzle loaders that use smokeless powder. a friend of mine bought one from them and its a very accurate muzzle loader and really light weight. the barrel is about the thickness of a shotgun. he uses 39 gr. of vn110.

This post, in its original form, was not to start a pizzing contest. It was just a curious question.
However, I have a gunsmith that builds smokeless powder guns on about any action you bring him (bolt action). He built one for a friend of mine using a short action Remington and a Douglas barrel. They are absolute tack drivers and like was said, you can shoot them along time before cleaning. A little pricey for me, no more than I shoot a MZ loader.

A local self proclaimed gun expert around here used/uses smokeless powder in his Encore. The loads he claimed to use were equivalent to the starting loads for the Savage 10ML1. He blew that Encore into pieces, sent it back to T/C, lied about what happened, and they replaced it. It seems like I heard he blew up that one too.
I sold my Encore and bought a Savage 10ML2. If you are going to have to carry the thing very far I would stick with the Encore and Pyrodex. Carrying the Savage 10ML2 is like carrying a cedar fence post all day.

I hate black powder guns but love to hunt the early rut... I have had them all and currently carrying a "cedar fence post" (great description) according to Matt N. The Savage ML is a very heavy gun but very accurate. If I can lug it to the stand, it will do the job. Not a fan of Savage and usually but high end firearms but their smokeless ML is the trick.

I have the bottom of the line T/C Omega,Z-5. I have had a couple of Encores and granted, the were great BP rifles, but the cheapo $300.00 Omega is a great rifle also. Matter of fact, I put the smack down on a nice little buck Sat. morning with it. 777 powder and a 250gr. shockwave!!!!!
I hate the effort of cleaning the dern thing, but IT IS SAFE, and it shoots great too!

Charles Darwin Both this poster and the dealer you speak of are idiots to suggest that you do this. Just in case you too are dumb enough to try it please let the rest of humanity know by wearing a sign.

I gotta agree here. make sure your stuff is in order, it'll save the family some B.S.!
