Snake gun?

I have a rule, machetes are to be used only to cut a snake's head off after a good dose of bird shot.

We do have some pretty fair sized snakes down here. Fortunately I have only encountered two over the years that seemed to be aggressive and they can move pretty fast. Usually they try to get away, though. I do have a horror of stepping on one in high grass, however.

I have taken a couple with a stick to pin it down and crush its head with a rock. I often just have a shotgun. I would probably load both snake shot and some hollow points. Still a lot of pot farmers out there.
 
I have killed a few with a little old North American Arms 22 mini revolver. I have the one with the folding holster/belt clip. I keep it loaded with 3 rounds of bird/snake shot, followed by 2 stingers. It lives in the left hand chest pocket of my fly fishing vest. From 10 feet I have never had a problem slowing them down in a hurry with just one shot. Once they are doing the big death swirl/twitch I follow it up with a second shot right to the head. Cheap and easy.
 
I no longer carry snake shot, too many different types of predator threats to remain aware of, especially living near wilderness. Shots behind a rattler's head work well, but I've seen a very aggressive Mojave rattler's heart beating some two hours after decapitation. Kinda crazy.

I have been looking for 2 months for .45 ACP shot shells and can not find any! I even sent CCI an e-mail and they said they just run them when they need to. I looked at mid south and it showed out of stock too. Anyone now of anyplace I can order a couple boxes?
 
Hunted down and shot this copperhead after it bit 2 of my dogs right outside my house. Got her with a .45 shotshell from about 6 feet.

I have no idea if they ship ammo but I bought some this past Saturday at North 40 Outfitters in Ponderay, ID. Not to add insult to injury but it was even on sale 10% off. I think I paid $13.50 for the little tray thing of them. Guess I didn't know they were so hard to find or I would have bought more.

When I was a kid my grandpa carried a Snake Charmer. Single shot 410, maybe a 12" barrel. That was such a fun gun to shoot when I was a tyke!

Yup...this....me too...I don't! told my wife I will never be taking a second on the house to go to Africa to hunt....never have to worry about it.
