Snowmobile hunters

Here my problem. In my area I have seen more than one group of hunters running fence lines and ditches in an attempt to flush a coyote or fox. One guy had his rifle over his back with hit kid sitting in front of him and the other group I saw were packing hand guns. The guys with hand guns have killed a ton of yotes this year and brag to everyone about the numbers they have killed. I have seen very few dogs out sunning and really think they are going to really mess things up for everyone else. I don't want them to loose their new sleds over this but something needs to be done. Many people think it's OK because the number of pheasants that could be saved, but what the [beeep], pheasants are not even native to our land and I would much rather pursue predators.

Anyone else have problems with the snowmobile hunters? What have you do about it? If you ask me I would think it would be the something as chasing a deer or shooting a pheasant out the window. Lots of people tell me that the DNR turn to the blind side on this issue. What do you guys think?

That same thing went on around here last year for a very short time. The sledders were even going into public lands. The TIP number got called a lot for a few days and the word got out quickly after these guys got caught lost their machines, guns and lost hunting rights for a few years.

Turn them in, In Minnesota game regs on page 20 of 2010 regs states "No person may use a motor vehicle to intentionally drive, chase, run over, or kill any wild amimal. Shooting from a motorized vehicle is unlawful"

The law seems clear so call the tip line and turn these "SLOBS" in. I don't care if they lose there sleds, they choose to break the law.

GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!! I HATE people who run them down with sleds nothing make this guy madder then people like that and they call them self's hunter's HAHAHAHAHAHA RIGHTTTTTT!!
For sure call them in!
Take plate numbers or collar of sleds or what ever you have to do BUT CALL THEM IN ASAP!!
I was going to keep my mouth shut on this post but I could not..

We were having the same problem here. Sled bye bye, guns bye bye, hunting license bye bye! It has pretty much come to a stop once everyone heard about a few guys getting caught. What bothers me the most is that certain authorities were looking the other way for a while but finally acted on it.

Just today i had some dummies on snowmo's come right through where i was hunting. They did come close and ask if i wanted a ride so i took their tag numbers down and made a call to TIP. Look out people on snowmo's! And to boot i did end up getting a coyote out of the area last this afternoon.

Happens more than you think. When they get sick of all the calls they go talk to the guys around here and talk is all that happens. Had a guy that owns a gun shop tell me he had a guy saying how much he likes the tuarus judge for riding up next to yotes and shooting them off his sled. He didn't notice the co standing behind him. Co tapped him on the shoulder showed his badge and said I will forget I heard that. WTH!!!!!!!

Same thing happens here.
Saw one of my nieghors(use that word simply because he lives close not a friend) run down a herd of deer this took a couple of miles on his sled. Finally the deer were so exhausted they huddled in a circle, my wife and I watched the whole thing from the road.Called fish and game gave them time, date, place, and even the guys name nothing happened they did not even come out to investigate.
Last year after a blizzard I took off on my sled and saw a set of fresh tire tracks, after 3 miles down a section line road here's a truck half buried in snow, and I do mean HALF BURIED in the snow 4 guys shoveling to try and get it out.In the back of the truck was a sled.I ask how in the world did you drive down through there and what were your intentions. They proceeded to tell me they drove this far but as soon as they got unstuck they were going to go "run down some coyotes" on their snowmobile. They ask if I had seen them from the main road and come to help.At that point I said nope, I just followed your truck tracks to see the idiots at the end. Started my sled and left.

My father in law ran across some guys running them with sleds a couple miles west of Willmar a few weeks. One guy on the snowmobile following the ditches a couple of other guys in trucks flanking the section. They had three. These are not sportsman, they have no respect for their game or any concept of fair chase.

It is pretty sickening.

just found out today that the area i'm gonna hunt next weekend in a tournament had 4 guy's,4 sleds out the other day and killed 40. not real enthused about going there to hunt!!

I HATE SNOWMOBILES!!

I had a snowmo in my yard last night and they were tearing around in my yard so i went out there and kicked them out of my yard. I got their registration numbers from the side, time to call the po po this morning. I live in a small town so someone is getting a ticket and everyone will know about it. Mark another one up for snowmobile haters.

Don't hate the snowmobiles hate the idiodt's driving them and not respecting your property.
I am a snowmobiler and have been for 45 years and I am a hunter and I use my sled to get to areas I can't by foot.
I am frustrated that so few ruin it for the others that do respect others property.
I have been following this post because of my interest in both sports and I agree with calling the officals and letting them get in the trouble they brought on themselves.
It is like outlawing guns because someone gets shot with a gun, the gun did not shoot anyone it is the idiot behind the gun.
Just my 2 cents.

When does using a snowmobile to hunt cross the line to the dark side? Say I'm out looking for tracks and a coyote busts out. Am I wrong to shoot said coyote. Or is it only wrong when you go out with the intention of riding all over and trying to get one running. Then chasing it\getting ahead of it to put some lead in the air. Or are you only bad if you shoot it right off the sled? Guess I really don't care too much, a dead coyote is a dead coyote to me.
And before everyone gets all worked up I don't have sled and I don't care how people kill coyotes. More dead coyotes mean more foxes, bobcats, and the precious deer and pheasants everyone loves so much.
