So, Are the Dems Going To *Riot* If They Lose?

What the heck?!? I leave for a day and it starts to get good! LadyJane, "grrrrrrrr!"

What the heck is he ranting about? Take him to task Lady Jane! 13 posts and he's trying to give a sermon! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Perhaps he should try being an alter boy first... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Jeff : You always miss things!!! Sheesh...how do you expect to maintain that image!

As for that rant...be darned if I know....but I slept really well last night. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

While airbear may have been a little agressive in his reply, he makes some very valid points.

The Constitution is the basic foundation of our great country and society.

What???? To be blunt, NO YOU DO NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO MEDICATIONS at a price you want to pay!! And YES I do have the Constitutional RIGHT to bear arms. That is a distinction that is not in the LEAST bit trivial my fine lady! To make things worse, you KNOW it but don't care! "shrug" Where does everyone get off thinking they have a RIGHT for EVERYTHING... drugs, a job, a good life, and on and on and on! Legally, we don't have a RIGHT to ANYTHING not spelled out in our laws. That's the way this great country has intentionally been designed. This entitlement, "where's mine?", whining, expect everything from someone else attitude drives me nuts. It's why we are such a weak country in my worthless opinion.
He was right on this one. We do not have a "right" to equal wealth, equal health care, or or any other social welfare.

We have the basic rights outlined by the Constitution and the Declaration of Independance. "Life, Liberty and the persuit of happiness" means just that. It means the pursuit of happiness not happiness.

If we as Americans are unhappy with our lot, we have the freedom to pursue happiness. It is a mistake to think that that happiness comes in the form of equal wealth or position.

LadyJane mentioned a couple of areas that she has problems with Bush.

As far as prescription medication goes, we are an over medicated society. It is not uncommon for people to be on as many as 10 or 12 different prescribed drugs at one time. Is that necessary? For some it may be, but for many it is not. Instead of suffering through a cold or some other ache or pain, we run to the doctor for some type of prescription drug.

As far as tax breaks for the RICH are concerned, I know that I received a $900.00 tax refund last year, just as most married couples did. I also believe that there was another one prior to that. I make under $40,000 a year, so I certainly cannot be classified as rich. I also know that many people who did not even pay ANY income tax received a refund.

Well it seems there are quite a few *uninformed* people here regarding medications. How about you do some investigation rather than spouting off about something you obviously know NOTHING about.

I take two medications for chronic problems which are NONE of your business. Those two are a bit over $600/month here and approximately $300 for THREE months in Canada...SAME medication, same manufacture. There are a couple of others, but those are an example. Big difference in price, don't you think?...in Canada from what I have been told, they are not allowed to advertise medications. There are some other cost saving things they do, but offhand I am hard pressed to tell you as I do not remember. The medications I take are NOT for a common cold which I agree with you about...I actually RARELY step into a doctor's office unless I am half dead. So...to pass your silly judgements is ridiulous. If you still have good health...YAY for you and may you always have it. Not everyone is so fortunate that they can live in the ivory tower you live in and pass such judgements. Let me ask you this: If you made that $40,000/year you say you make, and did not have benefits COULD YOU PAY for those medications that I take? Or would you think perhaps you had a right to buy where you wanted to. I think the first. OR would you think you should risk dying for the sake of our laws and whatever politician was in charge. Heh...I know you will NOT be honest..but OH WELL. You are just as ignorant to things as you say that I AM. AND I worked ALL of my life...made more than you do and would find it cost prohibitive. I am not working for reasons that are also NONE of your business....but I for one find it all pretty disgusting how the government screws with this issue. It is all about big business. Last I checked this was America...not Russia. There again..will I vote for Kerry because I think he will fix it? Heck no..he will mess up more than is already messed up in terms of our protection. I may not agree with everything one party does..or the other..but I have a brain and I listen and learn. You say that your gun rights are the ONLY issue...well there are PLENTY of them. (or am I misquoting you???) I have my issues..and medication and health care is ONLY ONE. I said that before....but I think SOME of you only pick out what you WANT to read so you can act up and instigate. I am here to voice my opinions..you do not have to agree. I listen to others..but you all are just picking on me...which is actually kind of amusing in that you think NO ONE see that? Come on guys...get real. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

As I said before I think there are certain constitutional rights that we should NEVER be denied..but there are also things we pay for that politicians have screwed up royal. And..please don't give me the good ole lawyer bit..I am about sick of that rhetoric, too. It is SO easy for everyone to pass the buck and not take responsibility.

Bottom line..I am NOT going to say another word to defend myself as it is VERY obvious to me from whence this SUDDENLY comes....people on the Internet think they are so slick and can pull the wool over others eyes. I have been around a LONG time and I see things for what they are. Normally I would have ignored both of you..but actually I appreciate the chance to tell you just how UNINFORMED you are.

The other fool just got finished posting something about the flu vaccine and how John Edwards was the reason for it.....WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT..hahah

GET A GRIP ON YOURSELVES AND RESEARCH BEFORE YOU SPOUT OFF AT THE MOUTH....OH AND THAT GOES FOR YOU, TOO KY. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Peace be with you. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You know, not all of your rights are specifically enumerated in the bill of rights. Don't be in so big a hurry to give them up, simply becuase they aren't written down on a list.

You seem to be lashing out at me,

You are just as ignorant to things as you say that I AM.
I never said that.

You say that your gun rights are the ONLY issue
Again, I never said that. You must have me confused with someone else.

So...to pass your silly judgements is ridiulous
I don't believe that I passed any judgment one way or the other on you.

You are right about that. With communism you would have government health care. Would it be better than what we have?

You know, not all of your rights are specifically enumerated in the bill of rights.
Unfortunately, most of the ones that government or obligated to provide are. The rest you have to earn one way or another.

hahahah You call THAT a lashing?

Quote:

lashing

Lash"ing, n. The act of one who, or that which, lashes; castigation; chastisement. --South.

Lashing out, a striking out; also, extravagance.

---------------------------------
My signature line is but a joke. I take not very much on the Internet as very real. I would think that to lash would indicate some type of anger.

I know nothing about you. I only know what you said in that post and I said what I said in response to it. Oh..no you did not specifically call me ignorant...did you HAVE to type it? Ever hear of non verbal communication? Well all of this (the bulletin board) is in spite of the fact that it is written and not spoken. In my opinion, non verbal also applies here. Your message was loud and clear as I read it.

And, once again, you picked out just a few lines here and there. For instance the gun control issue...I actually asked if I were misquoting you (did you put that part in? of course not), and you proved I was incorrect, so I am guilty of not reading thoroughly....but there again you were more or less saying that bearing arms is a right (which I have over and over said I agree with)...and that the ONLY rights we have are written. I respectfully disagree.

Your message was loud and clear as I read it.
Please do not "read" anything into it that I did not state or otherwise imply.

My comment on income was directed at your statement in regard to "tax cuts for the rich" and had nothing to do with medications. You may have taken the way I intended, but you referred to it in context of medication and being able to afford it.

and that the ONLY rights we have are written. I respectfully disagree.
Could you elaborate? What are some of these rights?

No thanks dear....I just looked at your picture. When you grow up, I *might* attempt to have an intelligent dialogue with you, but I seriously doubt it as I am very much your senior. You are obviously very young. I hope, as I said, that you continue to have good fortune. Sorry..but you are way out of touch in my opinion, and I am not going to dignify it with any more replies.

Peace. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jane - I must admit ignorance to this drug issue as it applies to out of country sales of drugs. I do know that lots of people go south into mexico everyday to purchase percription drugs. Where is the road block to purchasing drugs out of the country? ....... I suppose one of the problems with going to Mexico was made clear when look alike and deluted medications were found in some of the purchased medications, not all be some. At least we can be assured that American Meds. are good. More than likely the Canadian Meds. are good as well, but do we really know? I suppose the question really is, why do American drugs cost so much more than Canadian or Mexican drugs? Then there's John Edwards (and many others like him) and his ability to dupe uneducated juries to give Millions in damages for medical malpractice, when there was no malpractice at all. Where are the answers? I don't know, but there must be an answer out there somewhere.

ladyjane. You wouldn't be on the ukc. board to would you. You remind me of someone. Just wondered. I won't wander to far.

Michael: I am not sure where it all ends. I totally agree with you about the attorneys. I wish there were a way to keep the law suits under control as I stated on an earlier post. (I think I said it...or it might have been a conversation I had on IRC recently about this). There really ARE cases where people are entitled to settlements and I fear what would happen if we did not make people liable for their actions...especially physicians. But..there again I feel badly for them as well as they get sued for things that they should not be sued for. There are certain risks to any treatment or procedure. BUT...I have seen instances of physicians who have actually maimed people for life...that is something I believe should be compensable. Unfortunately, it has gotten SO out of hand that many people actually make a living out of lawsuits...and I am referring to the lawyers AND the people who seek them out.

As for the Canadian medications, I also was not informed until I had to buy my own insurance and medications a few years ago. I met a very nice man who sold me my health insurance policy and he gave me the number for the pharmacy in Canada that I deal with. I was skeptical at first, especially because of all of the stories I had read (that you mention). I have since found out that there ARE legitimate pharmacies in Canada. They do not sell controlled drugs and they require a written prescription from a licensed physician. They are NOT one of those web pharmacies that evaluate you over the internet with one of their *physicians*. They also do not send out bulk mailings trying to sell Viagra, Vicodin or any other medication that people find attractive to take for whatever reason and cannot get a prescription for from a licensed physician. You must buy a three month supply in order to save money...but I will tell you that they come in sealed (from the drug manufacturer) bottles....just like we get here..if we get one of those bottles. Usually our meds are doled out in other bottles and labeled. I go to my physicians for follow up prescriptions...some I buy here and some in Canada. I do NOT think it is ok to purchase controlled substances over the Internet or any medication without a prescription from a licensed physician; and I personally would not deal with such shady businesses. That is when you get bad medications.
That is also how people became so fearful of buying Canadian medications. It is also what made me so animated about what George Bush said in the one debate about how he did not know if those medications from Canada were from a third world country. TRUST ME...he knows. That was a fear tactic..nothing less. OR just a justification of doing what he did. I am not sure why he said it..but I am quite sure he knows better. Otherwise...why would they even have THOUGHT of speaking to Canada about the flu vaccine? They did not go to Mexico and ask for help. The drug companies are up in arms about us buying medications from Canada and they actually have threatened to reduce their supply if they are caught selling to Americans. I was told that by a pharmacist in Canada and I believe it. I have seen the bottles...so I KNOW where they come from. The same companies!! And I am quite sure they do not want to lose the income. I have always been for small business...I believe in keeping money in our country. If a small business gives me good service, i will happily pay them more because it is something I believe keeps America strong. I think that the drug monopolies do NOT apply to my thinking. They are raping us...especially when they keep advertising medications on television. I STILL say it comes very close to practicing medicine without a license..even THOUGH they advise people to speak with their physician. Isn't it enough to just let the physicians tell us about these medications? Does anyone ever think about WHO pays for these commercials??? Makes me think of the trial lawyers who get a bad rap. What is the difference? People trying to grab MORE than they really need is all it is in my book.

trek: I have no idea what that is. I am and have never been on any other board. My reason for coming here is because I knew someone long ago on IRC who happened to be involved here. I found this interesting, and one day I just happened to register and post. I had only been a guest prior to that and read it for a long time. I have actually stayed mostly now because I have learned a lot from it and enjoy it.
