Soft Gun Case Or Hardshell Case

I like a soft case for convienence, but a hard case is a must if flying or shipping. Hard cases are better for everything but convenience and space.

When hunting locally I always use a soft case.
I only use the hard case when I think other folks may be handling my rifles.
 
Agree on soft case convenience..easier to pack. I took five(5) rifles on this years PD trip and soft cases easier to stuff..and we were loaded.

I agree hard case for all airline travel or if I am taking only one rifle on a hunting trip but other than that soft for me. I prefer well padded assault rifle cases...mag pockets and usually a good sized exterior zippered pocket.
 
When going with several other people, such as a Prairie Dog shoot, I try to use my hard cases, as we are always loading the rifles and other equipment at different times...some of us live quite a ways apart and seldom meet at one location and load all at once, so some things get on the bottom of the pile...

If I'm just running to the range or out in the field alone (or with just one other person), then the soft cases are nice..as I have a separate container that holds my ammo and other supplies..
 
Just what Ive been thinkin. I been usin a Plano Air Glide for my scoped rifles and its a pain sometimes. I will get me a good soft case/shoulder strap. I agree with all your opinions.................Thanks Jeff

I'll be replacing a couple other cases i have with these as well.

I like the Midway cases to generally, but sometimes the cheaper version is more what I want. Also, Allen, are a good brand.
 
I should add when I got the Midway it was on sale for 25 bucks.I have a couple of those black hard case' like Plano and others make but they're really not all that stiff shell wise and the eggshell foam tends to deteriorate over time.Overall the Midway offers better protection.
 
For my hunting rifles I use the Pelican 1750. I think the Pelican cases provide maximum protection from all weather elements, plus they are very shock resistant. I've never had a rifle or scope damaged in any way when it was in a Pelican case. Pelican cases are on the expensive side compared to other brands; however, I think it is money well spent when you consider how best to protect extremely valuble rifles and scopes.

My vote is for soft case. I bought a Plano 400 from sportsmansguide and am very pleased with the quality of this case for the price! No more loud snapping the locks or clunking around a uncomfortable large plastic tote. Here is the link to it. I'd buy the shotgun case too if it was in stock!
 
I prefer the hard case, but most of my shooting these days is not hunting, just down at the range. I dont want something getting whacked and thrown out of alignment. Just my preference.
 
I used a soft case for a few years and then decided that a hard case would protect my rifles much better I have switched and sold all of my soft cases. I would say though I found the soft cases to be nicer and more managable for storage purposes and traveling with the family.
 
Sounds like most of us have the same opinion. For me, it depends on who I am hunting with, whos truck we are in and where and how far are we going. For the most part, soft case when I go out local, hard case for a long trip.
