Solo night hunting - dangerous?

Quote:
Thanks to everyone for your opinions. They were helpful except for Nahuatl. I can usually count on something stupid coming from him.

There are a few guys out there who've spent lots of time in the MNP. We all tell hunt stories, some with a greater or lesser degree of truth in them. Sorry. When I read your stories, I can't keep a straight face.

This is what happens to a SoCal coyote when he eats too much junk food and listens to too much rap music.

Are you saying some predator hunters don't tell the whole truth? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Kinda like fisherman? I do believe I have to agree with you in a big way. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
GJJ, what's up with you man /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif come on, keep things fun. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Nahuatl did it again. Every time he opens his mouth, something stupid comes out.

He didn't say anything about nightvision being illegal for hunting in California did he?

Listen,,i lost a buddy at 36 years old because he went to colorado elk hunting by himself,,,the short version,,he slipped and landed on his Broadhead,,went in his leg,,,he panicked pulling the arrow out and cut his femoral artery,,
so hunt by yourself at your own risk

GJJ, what's up? Do you have an (wish I could spell it) alterial motive?
A bit of history, perhaps?
All I can say of what Nahuatl has posted (in general) is that he accomplishes in a day what may take me(and most of us) months.
I'm envious of the time and places that he has to hunt. Beyond that, I'm respectful of the dedication he exhibits.

I'm confused about your fears that formulated the original post and then the subsequent personalized attack.

I'm open to a resonable explanation.

This is not the first time he has posted wierd and insulting responses to my posts. "Mojave Purple"? Then, he calls me a liar. Then, more wierd "rap music" comments.

Joe, you really shouldn't envy him. Anyone can post how great they are on the internet. Insulting people hiding behind a keyboard is even easier. You need to pity him.

Hidalgo and BillyTheKid, are you sugesting that the most dangerous thing to me is my own stupidity? Well I guess I realy cant argue with that. Ill bet the odds are like 99-1 that anything happening to you while night calling will be self inflicted. Justin

Justin, I hope you aren't serious with that inquiry? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I wasn't suggesting that ANYONE was stupid......it don't take stupidity to be involved in an accident. It happens everyday. Putting yourself in harm's way is a decision that has to be evaluated by the individual and the current circumstances. My point was.....you are much safer if in the company of a partner.....and there's a LOT of hunters out there who would love to have a partner to hunt with.

If you were offended, I apologize. But the older I get......well, you know the saying. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

GJJ,
If you are having second thoughts, then there is reason
for that. You now longer have offensive thinking, but
rather defensive- a good thing! I know Gen 3's have
great definition, however the " What If's" must always
apply. What if you fell, what if what you fell and
injured youself and your sight? NV not an option then is
it? I myself never hunt after dusk without a bud (not
the alcholic kind), just my after taxes 2 cents worth.
Success is when preparation meets oppertunity, or so
I have been told....

Sincerely,
8

Hidalgo, I was joking. Im with you that we are safer with a partner. The first thing we teach kids in swimming lessons or boy scouts is to use the buddy system. Im also with you that accidents happen every day. Im just pointing out that more often than not we (at least I) create the situation by pushing to far. I worry more about getting one more call in than being safe. The animals never have caused a perceptable danger to me. I on the other hand have done things that when I look back, I wonder how Im still alive.
By the way: I was not offended but I do appreciate your appology. It takes a lot of moral character to appologize and be kind when you didn't try to offend in the first place. I applaud that. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif ThanksJustin

I swear that is not PhotoChopped. It's the real deal and I took several pictures.

It's the rarest of coyotes, Canis Latrans RustOLeum.
