Sounds of crunching leaves

I am trying to make the sound of rustling/crunching leaves, as if something is flopping around struggling. I took a tape player to the woods with a computer boom microphone and it picks up to much. I've tried editing it with goldwave, but it still doesn't sound right. Has anyone else tried making this sound, and if you have what did you use? I've looked on the internet for this sound and can't find it.
 
i knew a guy who would rattle for bucks in his tree. he said it didnt sound right because when two bucks are fighting theres more noise than just the horns banging together. he put his rattle bag in a plastic bag from a grocery store. it sounded just like leaves crunching. and it did work, he shot a very nice buck. however he said he tried a lot of different bags to get one that sounded right.

Thanks for the idea Cracker. I'll check it out. My daughter and I taped the sound of in the shell peanuts being stirred around the other night that sounds pretty good. I think I want to blend the sound of rustling leaves with a distress call to sound like something injured struggling around. I think you and your friends thinking is right on track.
