Southeast TN hog hunters.

Something I've been wanting to do is a little hog hunting. I know that here in SE TN, we have a rapidly growing population, but I really have no idea where to start. If there is anyone in the relatively close area who would like to do a little teaching, I would be much obliged.

cant help ya im in northeast tn and in the same boat. got them all over a farm just dont know how to go about it .umm i do know they run them with dogs alot down south from me

Pour corn in 5 gal bucket. Pour in beer and water (or was that drink beer and pour in water?). Snap on lid and leave sitting for a week. Open lid and smell. If it stinks, it is ready. Go pour this in a place where hogs are near. Shoot hogs. Repeat as desired.

It has been a long time since I hunted in TN. Check your laws about baiting!

it "says" for big game hunting the past has to be removed atleast 10 days perior to hunting. but would it be the same on hogs since they do say kill everyone of them

True for game animals, but the wild hogs are not game. The TWRA sent out an email saying these wild hogs are migrating West into Middle TN. IIRC, they said kill all you can kill and they ask that you report the number you kill to the TWRA so they can monitor their movement.

I'll double ck this and let you know.

OK, just checked again.
Wasn't an email, it's in the TN hunting and trapping guide, page 32.

Quote from TWRA:

"We need to stop the spread, and stop the spread NOW. Feral hog season is open all year on private lands with no bag limits whatsoever. In other words, we want you to kill as many hogs as possible to slow their spread. So, please help us take aim at controlling feral hog population."

Sounds like when they do get here...the FUN will start.

i thought we could bait them.. ive got them here but havnt been just hog hunting for them .just looked while deer hunting and coyote trapin. these hogs went nite time only in a hurry .ive got to go shoot some

talked to a ranger this weekend he was telling me that they have hogs around cordell hull lake and are trying to get the funds to buy large traps and eradicate them all together from tennessee... they dont want them around due to crop damage and the problems they cause with fences and farmers and other things!!

Well, the way I look at it, they're coming this way and the TWRA is unable to stop their migration. It's not me wishing that they come, it's their nature to roam, and since I have no way to stop their migration, why shouldn't I look forward to popping as many as I can.

With game animals disappearing more and more around here, (groundhogs, rabbits, and squirrels) I welcome something to hunt. I realize the farmers are going to suffer losses no matter what I wish for.
