Specwar 762

I haven't ever had any interest in suppressors until I finally got to shoot with one today. A local gunshop is running a sale on the Specwar 762 suppressors for $599. The price point is basically what has attracted me to this new game of suppressors. I am sure there are better suppressors out there but what do you guys think about this unit for a first time owner? The suppressor will primarily be used on my 20 practical and 5.56 AR's but I may also use it later on a couple of other rifles such as my 17 hornet and maybe a 308 just for bench shooting

Any help is appreciated!

I have one and love it.. Its a bit on the heavy side but I think its a great can.. I use it on several guns and it seems to hold the same POI taking it off and putting it back on every one of them..

I've seen Kerrys its a nice can.

I have a YHM Phanton QD right now and a Harvester in jail.

You will like the Harvester. I have one and the paper work for my second should be back anytime hopefully.

"sale price would be a good deal?"
Think so, MSRP: $944 from their www site.
It was also on my shortlist when I ran into a good deal on a Harvester, and went that route.
The 762 is a couple db quieter than the Harvester for 308. (twice as heavy too)

If you don't mind the weight I think you will really like it. I know I do mine.. Keep in mind you will have 23 or 24 OZ hanging out there..

What else would I need to change the Specwar to other rifles? Like I mentioned earlier it will probably be used to begin with on a 20" 20 practical and my m77 17 hornet.

Mine is a quick detach. I have either muzzle brake adapters or flash hider adaptor for each rifle, I also use it on two specialty pistols,A 22-250 AI and a 6.5x284

Thanks for the help so far! So what would I need to buy to be able to change between my 20 practical AR and my 17 hornet once I get the hornet threaded? Also, I'm sure no one has probably tried it on a 17 hornet yet but would there be any issues with using this can on that rifle?

Specwar is an excellent suppressor. $599 is a great price. Only down side is the weight but it is one of the most quiet suppressors. I'd recommend getting a 30 cal can so you can use it on everything. The quick detach muzzle brakes/ flash hiders are compatible with the Silencer Co. Omega can as well.

What you have to decide is lighter weight vs sound reduction and consider mounting options. I like the quick detach system of the Specwar over the direct thread of the Harvester, but it depends on if you are going to be moving it around from gun to gun. Both are excellent suppressors. You really can't go wrong with SilencerCo for the money. If you wanted to step up to the Omega for about $200, you would get light weight, excellent suppression and a more modular system that is better for moving the can from gun to gun. Probably the best "do it all pretty well" first suppressor in my opinion.

I did have a chance to check out the omega while I was looking at the others. It seems very versatile and It was definitely lighter but to me it just didn't feel as rugged as the Specwar. It's probably just bc of the weight difference.

I have the Saker as well and it is about the same weight as the Specwar just 1.5 inches shorter. The weight doesn't bother me unless I'm carrying the gun for a long time. If your shooting at a range the weight is not really a big deal. I hunt mostly from blinds, so when walking a half mile and setting up on sticks or from an elevated blind, the weight is not a burden. It is so much more pleasant to shoot suppressed that the weight is a minor issue for me. If you are going to hunt open mountains or walk all day, then by all means get a light weight can.

Sounds like your style of hunting is a lot like mine. Looks like the Specwar will serve me well. So what will I need to purchase extra to make it so that I can use it on multiple rifles?
