UFA is a co-op but they also own the largest retail sporting good chain in Canada. For the life of me I cant remember the name of that chain of stores. This is really interesting. I work part time in the casper store. Last day I worked was last Thursday and the managers were all still saying they had no clue what was going to happen. The fact that the bottom dropped out of the UFA purchase of all the stores was very hush hush or there are some managers who were lying through their teeth. I told some of my co-workers last Thursday that if the news was good they would be sharing it and if its bad, we wouldnt know a thing until it was done.

Looks like your store is still in play as ours here in Grand Junction. I can see why they kept this one here. There really isnt much else around that has all the stuff they do. Honestly though its been so long since anyone here has had inventory on reloading stuff I have always gone to the online places to get supplies. Shipping is about the same as tax.

Our store here in Nampa is going to close,It only opened in november of 2007.I'm sad i hate to see it go so soon.

On the other hand they never really had much in stock for the reloader @ 1st it was good & inventory dwindled from there on.They are keeping the Meridian Idaho location going & i'll frequent there just like i used too..

Mostly i use a mom & pop gunshop here in town anyway,Kinda nice when you're on a 1st name basis with them.

I wish the best for the folk's who lost their job's..
 
Yep went to SW today in Vegas and right there on the door it said the Henderson and vegas store will be closing in 60 days. So all we have in a city of 1.5 million is a Bass Pro Shops and a few mom and pops type gun store. Pretty pathetic. BPS's hunting department is pretty slim. Guess I'll be doing the internet ordering for my stuff.

Sportsman's Warehouse in New Berlin and De Pere will close in 60 days, the company announced Tuesday.

The stores, which opened in 2004, are among 23 that will be closed by the Utah-based sporting goods chain. New Berlin store manager Wanda Luebke said a liquidation sale will begin soon. Sixty people are employed at the store.

Sportsman's Warehouse also announced the sale of 15 locations to UFA Co-operative LImited, of Alberta, B.C. A release on the company's Web site said Sportsman's Warehouse hopes to stay in business elsewhere with 2,300 employees.

Before the closings and sale, the company operated 67 stores in 29 states. Sportsman's Warehouse is privately owned, with revenues of about $800 million.

Hope this clears up some of the questions.
 
Ours is staying open it looks like, Are they going to move the inventory from the closing stores to the ones that will stay open.
 
Looks like our store in Billings (that opened last fall) will stay open for the time being. Cabelas was supposed to open last year but they pushed it to this fall... I wonder how long Sportsmans Warehouse will hold on after that....

I guess only time will tell
 
just stopped in the midvale store, that place looks to me like its going out of business, the scope department, was just about barrin, very few scopes in stock, I asked the guy if he had a rifle I wanted, nope, I said can you order it, he said no new orders. I think the whole thing is done

I bought some shoes there wore them for a little over a month, now they make a horrible squeeking, swooshing sound each time you step, their return policy is only 30 days, so i am stuck, looks like more business for cabelas.

Tim..It's basically on the corner of eagle rd & fairview avenue..Take the eagle exit off I-84 & head north & then right or east on fairview & it's on the right side..
 
Got the news today that the one in Las Cruces is slated for closing as well.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

No they will not. The stores and everything in them will be sold to a liquidation company who will in turn liquidate all inventory and assets. This according to our management.

Well crap I just noticed mine is on there. Kinda strange there basically the only store around here like that, there is bass pro in springfield and tulsa but thats not worth the drive. I guess Ill go poke at them on Friday
 
I have Cabelas and a couple Gander Mountains under 2 hours from me. The SW was the only 40 minutes and my favorite store. Toss in the fact my old uncle sold the farm I hunted for the last 40 years this week. A fellow could get depressed.

It is an ag co-op organization, that sells ag suplies .building supplies etc.

They have several stores and fuel outlets in western Canada,
about 18 months ago or so, they expanded some of their "sporting goods "departments. Then the bought Wholesale sports which has a few stores in western Canada. Wholesale sports is like a micro Cabela's. WS is also a weekly topic on Canadian hunting forums for their less than stellar service.

UFA as you know by now has also purchased 15 SW stores.

Add to this they plan to open another WSS store in Alberta.
Basspro has just opened a store in Alberta, they also have on in Ontario. Cabela's bought out SIR a Canadian mail order outdoor operation with one retail outlet in Manitoba.

It appears to me that some one has deep pockets and huge cajones to be doing projects like this in today's economic climate. Or they are not as smart as they need to be. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

The Canadian economy is slowing like every where else on the planet. Not as bad or as deep but still slowing. Tons of toys for sale for very reasonable prices in the classifieds. Alberta led the country for booming the last few years, but it is coming to a slow down now. Lots of used trucks, boats etc, and not much market for them.
