Looking for the best spotlight with red lens for night hunting in the hills of OHIO. Just trying to get other hunter's advice, who may own or have used different lights. Please give me your input. Thanks alot.

Jerry, without some information this is a hard question to answer..

Answer a couple of questions then maybe someone can offer you some pertinent info..

#1, Will you be hunting from your truck.. Don't expect all the members to know your game laws in your state. That part is up to you..

#2. If not are you looking for a light that is bright or one that will stay the course?

#3. Will you be walking very far? (over several hundred yards from your truck)

#4 Do you want a hand held light or one that is mounted to your gun?

The best thing that you could do is go to the night hunting forum and do a search on lights. You will gets tons of information on different lights thier set-ups and how to use them.

You will also get information on each question that I asked.. Best of luck and welcome to Predator Masters........ James L.

James Lindley, thanks for the information you have given me. I'm new to the site, so I really don't know how everything works quite yet. But the only way to learn is to ask, listen, and make appropriate changes. I will be hunting by foot, hundreds of yards from my vehicle, and would need a light to stay the course. Another member gave me information on a light that can be used on your gun or used by hand through lightforceusa.com. I believe it was called the "nighthunter". Since I hunt primarily by myself, I don't have enough hands. A headlamp is a great idea, also. Do you have any knowledge about the "nighthunter", or recommend a headlamp. Once again I have learned a lot from this site and all the guys that participate through the stories and wisdom they share. Thanks to everyone who has given me feedback.

Welcome Jerry
As was suggested, do a search on spotlights. Lightforce makes a really good light. I use one quite a bit and they always work well. Randy

I built a mount for it to hook up to my chair. The light I use to shine from the back of the truck, to look behind us, while the guy in the chair is looking forward, has not been modified.

I guess you like small block chevies?? Me too, I have a bike with a ZZ4 in it. Randy

Yep, love the old small blocks! Had a my first one at 16; it was a 327 with the 'ol double hump heads. It was a lot of fun!

What kind of bike do you have with a ZZ4 in it?

So you didn't add the "shade" on the light like I've seen in the pictures? If so, is it because of how you are hunting (from the truck) or because of the quality of the Light Force?

It's called a Boss Hoss. I actually have a 100,000 cp brinkman mounted on the chair with a hood on it. I haven't changed it out yet. It works fine, and I already have a dimmer in it. I will swap it out this season probably. Randy
