looking at buying a springfield 840 in .222 rem. with a 4x12 millet scope and was wondering if any of you guys could give me any idea on value. everything i could find onoline said about 200-250 range in god condition. any ideas on a reasonable offer on scope and gun?? its suppose to be the same as a savage 340

A couple years ago I picked up an 840 with a fajan stock and 4x weaver at Cabellas for $150 great shooter. As far as scopes I don't think I'd add a premium for a Millet. I'd say 200-250 would be good.

Had one in 30-30, it's the same as the 340, watch the wear on the extractor and ejector. They can be replaced, but these were designed as a budget gun at the time and if the bolt has a lot of wear you may want to reconsider. I picked up my extra magazines at Egunparts, they also have parts diagrams for it. If it's in good shape and you can get it for $250 w/scope sounds like a good deal.

Dont know much about the rifle but I do own a Rem 700 ADL in .222 Remington, its an early 80s model and it shoots like a triple deuce should is all I got to say.

Stoke it with some 40g vmaxs or nbts with H4198 and its a perfect load out to 300 when zeroed at 200-225 yards. Never shoots over 1/2 MOA, and 3600fps from my 24" bbl.

Wouldn't sell my triple deuce for anything.

Haven't been at it much lately, recovering from a dirt bike incident (broken leg and knee) for the last 4 months.

I"ll get at it here in a few months when it starts to get good. Everything is to tall and green around here right now. There is a few pups running around here and there though still.

Between me and a friend on his ranch, weve killed 100 in the last 2 years. It hasn't been to bad. I know there is better spots out there, I know there is worse to though haha.
