I love a finely blued barrel and a good piece of wood. Carried many of them for years with no troubles do to weather. I also like a SS barrel on a good syn or wood stock. I think SS blends well in the outdoors too. I not talking a high polished SS , more like a blasted finish.
All depends on what it is getting used for.
