Seeing some dead coyote pups along the highways and lots of coyote sign on my 3 mile morning walks.
This morning I was walking on a old oil field paved road with the wind in my face when I saw a coyote in the road heading towards me. I crouched down before the pup saw me and I started lip squeaking.
This pup with big ears and long looking legs started trotting faster towards me even though I was in the middle of the paved road that the coyote was in the middle of. When it got to about 40 yards away it went into the sage brush to the left of the road.
I was catching glimpses of it in the brush and it was getting much closer to me as I was lip squeaking at it. When the young coyote got in a opening in the brush and stopped I could see the whole coyote standing broadside right at 20 yards away. He was looking right at me in that spot for at least a minute. I wish I had my camera with me!
About two weeks ago I lipped squeaked another pup up to about 40 yards away.
I wish November would hurry up and get here!
