I am looking at building a 2 car garage, and was wondering if you fine folks could recomend companies that provide steel kits. I have kicked around the idea and a kit seems to be the way to go, especially considering building cost and all. Which companies are good, which ones are bad etc.

Thanks a bunch.

we built a quanset several years ago they work well but if i had it to do over i would never do it again way to many bolts and a real pain to get started
just my 2 cents worth

Hi Elks,

I just recently built 2 of them at work, they were bought at Northern tools, the large one 20x18 was easy to in-stall with a 3/8 rechargable Impact.... took me 2 days to erect on company time, would have been 1 day had they quit bugging me on when i was going to get done with it....

Typical work Turkeys............

shipping time was around 2 weeks came from the Factory.......Price of it was $1,200.00 + shipping

I mounted it on pt 4x4's with red-heads bolted to the concret, so no permit was required, (still can be moved in 10 Mins w/fork Lift if needed)........says withholds winds of 90 MPG, will see come June 1st, Start of Hurricane Season....

I finnished it with latex caulk and was able to stand on ribs to do it......... was Impressed with it.......so was my boss........

Rick, is it something that a person couls insulate, finish with drywall and make into a nice heated shop/garage? I am looking at hanging shelves etc. Thanks for your reply.

Hi Elks,

The ones I installed was a cover for 2 cars (no Walls) they do sell complete Garages that you can do that with, these were just to cover a Tractor/Trailer wash system......and the other one was for 2 company trucks.......keeps the sun and rain off-ya.....

My supervisor installed a steel buldingat his home, it was 40x40, 16 foot roll up door and side door on a Monolific concrete slab, Had to have permits, concrete truck delevery...It looks alsome and came with insulated walls, costs was around $12,000. took 2 Months to finnish after work w/some help.........

If you look on Northerntools.com you can see all the different kinds of Buildings they offer,The only ones Ive delt with so-far.......
