Had a Prairie Hunter on a 788 Remington. It ha a small spot in the mag well that kept the mag from fitting properly.Five minutes with a file fixed it. Other than that, perfect fit and great finish. It was walnut with pretty good figure in the wood. Only regret is I should have got the checkering.

Good to know and how do you like the Cheek rest?? Also did they come barrel channel Free Floated ?? keep em coming with the info!!
Oh I did remove the mag on mine and inserted a Single shot adapter

I'm in the process of putting my Stevens 200 in a classic. I usually build stocks from scratch but decided to go this way for a change. It's a good start on a stock and eliminates a bunch of work but it's still a mass produced product. The barrel didn't float on mine, the action was a rattling good fit in the stock, the cheekpiece shaping is kind of blah, and the fore end wasn't symmetrical in shape. I think I either got the last made on Friday or the first on Monday.

I really intended to do some altering and didn't get upset with the product at all. Some woodworking, some glass bedding and it's waiting for spraying a new finish when the weather warms up some.

I think Im going with the Prairie Hunter in Walnut as Im afraid the Laminate wont hold up in wet weather.
By the way do these come with the trigger guard ??, I seen where some do. Thanks!! Jeff

The laminate will do better in wet weather so long as you seal the inside and out good. I use a matte clear cote on all my wood stocks so it's not shiny. I get it from ACE

No trigger guard but one is available from Boyd's. Order the action screws too as the factory ones are a shade short.

Well I ordered today a Prairie Hunter from Boyds. I don't know what to think!! First off they could not tell me if it was in stock, and I had found a Coupon online for Boyds for 15% off over $95 even had their Logo and was told they don't have coupons. Then I get Email Conformation and all was ok till I seen SS Trigger Guard and I ordered Blue!!
I just hope it gets here in one piece and fits.

I do know that Boyds just revamped their entire Web site and they are having some problems. I have a friend who just ordered one it took a week or so and there were some problems but in the end all was well and the stock showed up correct and in good shape.

I'm late to the party and since you've already ordered my opinion is mote anyway buuuuttttt,,,,,,, I've owned both and like the classic better..
Had a M77 in a laminated Prarie hunter. It was heavy as he11 and took a little whittling to get it right. (I pillar bed all wood stocks anyway so no big deal.)
I currently have a 700 in a Walnut classic. Love it!!!!
The fit was fine but I opened it up and pillar bedded it anyway. It's an ADL so I drilled out the front pillar and replaced it with a solid one but again, 'That's just me".

My experience with Boyds has been quite painless.
Good stocks at a fair price IMO.

As I got to work Wed got a Text message from UPS and that they just delivered my Stock. Got home and as soon as I got in the house
I had the box open. Wow! it is beautiful and the metal Trigger guard fit perfect and I measured the holes and they are correct.
But I wont be able to put it together till Tuesday because of working Black Friday, Cant wait to shoot it.
So far Im happy with Boyds service.
