If you have an existing A2 it couldn't be easier. Remove one slotted screw, remove the old stock watching out for the take down pin spring. Now slide the new stock over the buffer tube, again taking care not to bind the takedown pin spring, and tighten the new slotted screw. If you're replacing a collapsible you'll have to replace the buffer tube, spring and buffer, but it's still a piece of cake.
As to which one, I just replaced the std A2 on one of mine with an RRA A2 Operator and love it. Great cheek weld, good balance, and the butt plate/pad doesn't hang up on your clothes. At the same the I finished off another lower with a Magpul MOE fixed. The two a very similar, the big difference being the MOE is A1 length, about 5/8" shorter than the A2.
