Stole my wife’s gun

Duhhh

I had leave to burn up and no obligations today so naturally my trigger finger got a little itchy. We’ve been getting hammered with rain for the past week and a half and it finally cleared up today. Only problem, I’m all out of ammo for my day rifle and my other rifles at the gunsmith for a new barrel. Lucky for me, my wife’s re barreled Sig Cross was sitting in the safe with some unfired 62 ELD-VTs that I needed to test on some coyotes.

It was wet and muddy but I’m glad I got out today. Had coyotes come into every stand and they were all ready to fight. Most responded to fights and challenge barks. I didn’t hear a howl all morning.

I held a little too much wind on that first coyote and should have put another one into him but I thought he was going to die. He was pooping blood but I lost the trail in the thick brush down the ravine. The next coyotes probably could have been killed with a bayonet because they just wouldn’t stop for me.

I’m pretty sure the barrel on this gun has sped up because I missed that second coyote high. The stand after this, I also missed a pretty easy broadside shot about a half mill high. It was a 418 yards but I was damn solid and a quick zero check showed I was hitting high. So I adjusted and went on with the morning. Got busted on another stand later in the morning and couldn’t get that one to stop.

I ended the day with 4 shot coyotes and 2 that got away. 3 confirmed males.

The ELD-VTs had pretty good performance. They actually didn’t tear them up too bad.

Wet coyotes with the wife’s 22 creed

Duhhh what's your opinions on the trigger cam? If you had to do it over again would you still buy the trigger cam or would you go different route

This is my second one, the first ones focus wheel broke and wouldn’t focus. Sent it in and the company was a total pain in the ass to deal with. Took weeks of communication, sending them videos, and answering questions before they agreed to replace it. I had to pay for shipping to one of their American distributors and it took a bit to receive the replacement. I’m not entirely sure this one is brand new but it works better than the other one.

The battery in the trigger cam is absolute garbage. If you take it out in anything below 30 degrees, it’ll die fast. Its died during some
Pretty epic kill shots. I plug an external power pack in now.

I’ve primarily had it on a 4x32 Nighforce NX8 and it’s finicky to get focused. The parallax on that scope makes it difficult. However, it runs better on my 2.5x20 NX8 and now on my wife’s Trijicon Credo. Think the lower magnification scopes are the ticket for clarity.

It’s heavy but I don’t mind the weight. The other thing is remembering to push the record button, that gets annoying. Oh my last gripe is, the footage usually looks like crap when you’re moving into shooting position haha. I try to edit the videos down to not give viewers screen sickness.

Overall, it’s cool to get video footage but I don’t think I’d buy the camera for $600. However, my wife bought it as a gift so I use it everytime I shoot. The main benefit for me
Is to see how I’m managing recoil, replaying shots, and trying to critique my garbage trigger pulls haha.

Thanks I appreciate your honest opinion and for pointing out some flaws that you have came across.. to me the 620$ price tag seemed little steep but then again I don't mind paying the big prices if the product is actually worth it, multiple other reviews I've seen also says the battery life is not the greatest unless it's connected to external battery source and getting the focus and eye relief set takes a little extra time...I know about remembering hitting the record button as well lol Ive never used the recoil activated video in my thermal or night vision scopes but I have not remembered to push the record on some pretty good coyote videos as well.

Yeah no problem. I think if they made it run off a 18650 battery, it would work better. A Chinese company called “scopemate” ripped the design off and used a 18650 battery.

I think the Tactacam FTS might be the better option.

Yep, neat topography and thanks for the story and vid. Those 2 definitely had a 'death wish', you shoulda stood up to see how fast they could get out of sight :ROFLMAO:

Well done! Man that's pretty country (this time of year). I'd love to have some of your rain. We've had 37 days of wind-driven brown-outs so far this year; the average is 22. It's like the freakin' dust bowl.

You need to work on a more threatening howl / growl 🤣

Great video though, and awesome looking countryside.
lol that was the first time I’ve ever growled at a coyote. Seen it in the movies and it seemed to work for them but clearly didn’t do anything here.

Coyote were moving in my area last few days. Not hunting but traveling between hunting properties I saw several during daylight. Heard 2 groups while watching scrap metal storage that the meth heads have been trying to steal stuff from. Hid in an old semi trailer until 2am one night. Got tires on one group, my tire spike strips work pretty good.
