I am lookind to replace my shoulder holster for my Ruger P90DC. Currently I use one of the old GI holsters made for the 1911. Its just not real comfortable to me. I was woundering what some of you might recommend. Thanks

I almost bought a shoulder holster a while back, wanted a vertical one. My research lead me to 'Black Hills Leather', and FIST.

In the end I got an 'Air Marshal 3' from Kangaroo Carry. It may not work as well with a heavier 1911. I use it for a lighter gun & deeper carry.

Which one of the Military 1911 holsters are you using?? I carry my 1911 in a Tanker M7/M9 across my chest, very comfortable and easy access. And very fast to put on and off.

Thats the same one that I have M7/M9

Thanks all I will check them out. I work outside in a saltwater enviroment so the shoulder holster will give some protection to the firearm.

Ive got two of them from Adirondack Leather and as you may know that there is Two ways to carrie that holster. The way I use it is over the neck w/1 strap and the other way that over the left shoulder hanging down with a chest strap, thats the one I find uncomfortable. And I wish the Draw could be a little quicker.

I have a BlackHawk serpa shoulder holster that works real nice. You have to buy the shoulder rig and a holster separately which run me about $100, but I think is worth every penny.

I usually carry a Commander sized 1911. But in certain situations it can be difficult to conceal...Like a lot of people I had taken to leaving it on the nightstand at times..like attending church. We had a situation at our church during Holy Week that really rattled me, so I hope the OP wont mind me asking on his thread. I had wondered about using a vertical carry shoulder holster UNDER a dress shirt...My thinking was that after Mass started, I could unbutton one button of my shirt to give quick access if needed. So my questions are..Am I correct in assuming that ANY shoulder unit would show under a white dress shirt..and how badly would it print under non-white shirts?

Sharps
Its awful that todays socity has brought us to carring at church. A prime example of how this nations mental health issues are the real problems that need to be addressed.

I like vertical shoulder carry, as opposed to the barrel pointed back. A vertical shoulder holster with a smaller gun works great for CC.

With all the media induced crap going on lately, I do believe armed citizens flat out just shooting these "crazies" on the spot will address it just fine. Giving them drugs and a dr isn't helping, and the media feeds it. They are showing where our weaknesses are....... if we're willing to address them ourselves. Dumping yet more $$ into yet another social program run by the gov't ain't gonna cut it.

Apologies to the OP - I don't use shoulder carry often as I have neck and back issues. Interesting the number of experienced replies on the Galco Miami.

From 2006 to 2010 during the summer (May to October), I used a Galco Miami Classic with dual holsters for my 1911's. The quickest reload is a second pistol. Once I had the rig on I didn't even notice it after a few minutes.

You have to be pretty big not to have 1911's print in a shoulder holster. I tried the vertical and didn't like it. I think you'd print in a heartbeat under a dress shirt. For that situation you may want to look at keeping your suit jacket on or maybe an ankle rig.

I am kind of thinking, if I knew that I need to get THAT ready to use my gun in a place I am headed to, then this is probably a wrong place to go to.
