I was gifted a few box's of 22 caliber Barnes bullets from a friend. 62 grain TSX and 55 grain TSX's. I've never had a lot of luck getting Barnes to shoot to my liking but I'm a little anal about accuracy. Probably not a good thing but that's the way I am. Gonna start with the 62 grain bullets first. I need some tips/suggestions on the best powder and seating depth for these bullets. I've been told to seat them deep and run them hard. I'm going to use them in my AR with a 16" BA barrel with an 8 twist. Thanks!!

I have lots of different powders compatible for the 223. I have three 223's so lots of options. Hogdgon says Tac will give me the best velocities. I thought about starting there.

I use 45gr Barns XLC in my Ruger Hornet, and get MOA out of it.

The TSX and TTSX are some of the easiest bullets to find accuracy, and I use them in 243 (3), 270 (2), 30-06, 300wsm, 300Win (3) and 300 Weatherby.

My load development is to seat them to published COL, and stay at the top of the powder charge. I typically find better accuracy as I increase the powder charge towards max.

I have never had to play with seating depth with the TSX or TTSX, though in one friends rifle, a 300Win Hart custom, we experimented with it, just because.

The prior versions of Barnes, like the XLC and Original X, were very, very sensitive to seating depth, and those bullets caused me some heartache, and money, trying to find accuracy.

These are designed for mag length loading in 223.

Not sure how it carries over to a 223, but I've been playing with a new 6.5 PRC, and a seating test showed best accuracy at .010" off the lands with the Barnes 127 grain LRX.
