• About 106,000 safety harnesses sold with hunting tree stands distributed by Summit Treestands LLC, because the harnesses can fail and cause a person to fall out of the tree stand.

The recalled harnesses are tan or light brown with "Manufactured in 2005" and "Made in China" printed on a label on their tethers. They were sold with the following tree stands or ladders: Viper X5, Goliath X5, Razor X5, Bushmaster X5, Broadhead Backpacker, Bullet Backpacker, Clearshot, Openshot and MegaSampson.

one would think that if the harness failed....that one had already fallen out of the tree. How would that be the harness' fault?

Or the exact opp can happen.
I took a fall 2 years ago as of this coming october. I had just taken my harness off to come down from the evening hunt. I lowerd most of my gear by rope to the ground and then stood up to step onto my ladder when the cables on my brand new stand failed. this dropped me 30 feet to the ground where I landed on my feet and bounced one time before falling over. I hit my buddy on the radio and he came running to see if I needed help. At first I felt ok besides my backside hurting a little bit. To make a long story short I fractured my pelvis, tailbone and sprained my ankle so badly that EMS had to come get me out of the woods. The moral of this is never trust your equipment even if it brand new. Sometime we put to much faith in something that may or may not save us from injusry. If I had not had my radio or hunted with my buddy I may not be here today to talk about it.
 
It's official no treestands for me. I'm gonna get a ground blind!!!

Bryan I'm glad your still here after your accident! Have you suffered any long term damage since?
