Summit Viper SS

Seeing how I'm sick and tired of being pushed away from my hunting spot, (public land) I ordered a Summit Viper SS climbing stand. I found a place that I think I might be left alone to hunt. Only problem is its about a 1/2 to 3/4 mile walk. I thought the Summit might be a solution to the problem. I can carry it in and back out in the evening when I'm done hunting for the day. Have any of you or do any of you use this stand and how do you like it?

I had one, but I sold it after I quit bowhunting.
It's light for its size, climbs easily and quietly even for a fat man, and is the most secure and comfortable stand I ever sat in.
Make sure you tie the top part to the bottom part!!!!!!
If you don't you'll end up with your feet dangling like a little kid in a big chair, and the bottom part of the stand at the bottom of the tree.

At least that's what I hear.

I bought a Equalizer tree stand a couple of years ago and it is by far the quietist best thought out stand I have ever seen. I hunt predominantly coues deer and stand noise is very important. I felt the seat on the summits were a little to noisy for me. Equalizers are not found in stores you will have to look them up on the internet. I often sit for 5-8 hrs at a time and the Equalizer has been comfortable for those long sits.

If quiet and sturdy is what you want then the Lone Wolf stands are by far the most stable and most quiet stands I have ever used. I wish I still had mine, but hunting with a bunch of other people in the woods I didnt want that much money hanging in the tree so I sold them. Biggest mistake ive ever made!

I like my Viper SS. I can sit for long periods very comfortably, the problem is I tend to fall asleep in it so wear your harness lol.

I'm no young man, but made the trek four times this last week-end (Thurs thru Sunday). Sunday morning came out with a 90/100lb. 8 pt. I did have to go back after the stand and its only about 1/2 mile. I felt like I drug a school bus out of the woods. I spent 7 hours in the Viper the first day I got it. I didn't see any deer, but I ws very comfortable doing it. One of the easiest stands to stay in I ever had.

Yep, and one of the hardest ones to fall out of that I ever had.

I have the Summit Cobra which they don't make anymore. Same as the viper except it doesn't have the bar across the front of the top section.

Mine weighs in at 19.5 pounds, and I can pack it in 3/4 of a mile, climb a tree and hunt all day.

I have a 2 wheel cart I keep locked in the back of the truck to pack the deer out if I get one.

I have killed a good many public land deer out of it since I got it a few years ago. A couple of hogs too.

Love my Viper SS. It is a pain to carry, especially through thick stuff, but it is so comfortable. It's the only treestand I've ever hunted out of so I can't comment on how it stacks up to others mentioned but I can say if you get one, you won't regret it.

tey are really nice light weight extremely comfortable stands. however i am done with climbers. takes way to long to find the perfect telephone pole trees. im ordering 2 sets of love wolf climbing sticks and a gorilla scout hang on for next season. much more practical for my area.

but if you have the good tree then the summit is the way to go no doubt. its hard to stay awake in my its so comfortable

I had one up till today , went to my tree thismorning and my stand was gone , on my neighbors farm and i'm the only one permited to hunt it .....freekin sucks it was a comfortable stand .

HD, Thats part of the reason I went with a climber. Walk-ins and theives. I carry in and carry out ntill I get a private lease again. Sorry for your loss.

Thought it was safe being private land and all , and being the only one permited to hunt there , i do have a cable lock i had for it but again didnt think i needed it , live and learn , i have some ladderstands set up and my blind , which i better think twice of leaving it out now .....Thanks for your concern and Happy Hunting to ya !!

I've owned near every brand of climber made including several Summits and still have 3 of the including 2 Viper SS models.

Overall I find Summits very comfortable and perfect for long sits but compared to Lone Wolf they are make a lot more noise climbing, carrying and assemblying/disassembling and don't carry as well.

I mainly use the Summits for gun hunting and use the Lone Wolf for bowhunting or when I have to pack a stand some distance.

Same here Hammer, except the hog part. The Cobra's about worn out, so I got a Bushmaster this year. Great stand, light and comfortable. Perfect for bowhunting IMO.

I never leave mine in the woods private or not becasuse I don't want a wet seat or a squirrel eaten seat when I get there, not to mention a stolen stand.
