Summit Viper SS

Equalizers are not found in stores you will have to look them up on the internet. I often sit for 5-8 hrs at a time and the Equalizer has been comfortable for those long sits.

I looked at their site, very impressive. At the bottom of the tree I look like a 270# camo clad ballet dancer in order to be near level at the top, pretty dangerous. Is there a downside to this stand?

I have owned manny climmers over the years, starting with the old Baker stands( those were a thrill. Kept one for years to let that guy you just couldn't not take hunting though you didn't want to take to hunt out of.)The summits are very comfortable but like I said they were a little to noisy for me. I have used the Equalizer for about three years and really like it. It is extremely stable in the tree and very quiet. I can't remember what it's weight is but Im a 50 year old fat man and pack it some pretty good distances in the mountains and still have the streangth to get it up a tree. If there is any down side I think the handles on the cranks are made of plastic and could break, or loose the set screw and fall off. Neither has happened to me in three years. I haven't tried the Loan wolf climbers so I don't know how they compare.

Yea, I had one of those Baker's, I droped about 8' one time before it took a bite into the tree!

Thanks for the reply. Unless I am missing something, this looks like it's the answer to my climber needs, maybe the best out there! Thanks for the reply.

I've owned a summit viper since I started hunting and it will always have a special place in my heart

. It's an older model that doesn't have the metal bar that wraps around and has an air bladder for the seat and back rest. This year I switched to a tree saddle after reading Eberhart's book and won't be using the summit much but, it is still the most comfortable stand I've ever used and is dang near impossible to fall out of. I've slept many mornings in it before day break. It is kinda noisy to set up, most climbers are, and the air bladder tends to creak a little; although, it's never spooked a deer. As for carrying well, compared to my tree saddle it's horrendous but, what isn't.
