Sunglasses for coyote hunting?

I'll admit it - when I'm outside and it's daylight, I always where shades (polarized). This includes when I'm hunting. But when I view many of pred. hunting photos and videos out there, I seldom see the hunter donning sunglasses. I've had a few folks tell me that the glare off the glasses scares coyotes and I have to wonder if that is at least a bit true at times. I do feel that sunglasses are beneficial for protection of eyes, though. Sometimes it's a pain in the butt to be looking through the scope with glasses. I liken this question to the "bino's/no bino's" post from awhile back.

Anyhoo...any opinions on the pros/cons of wearing shades while hunting?

I have no choice of whether or not to wear glasses on stand. If the sun is up then i'm wearing my prescription sunglasses. There are a bunch of dead coyotes that didn't mind them one bit.

Edited: Wanted to add that if your glasses are giving off a glare, then you have already made a mistake.

I'm always looking through the bino's or scope and taking the darn things off all the time or hanging from lanyard are just too bothersome, so I wear a camo boonie hat and that blocks most of the direct sun (also covers the ears so that all those years of hunting and fishing won't give me skin cancer). Some overcast, bright days I have worn them, but again am always bothered by them and don't want to add a reflection to the scheme of things out there. Mostly NO.

I wear prescription photo gray glasses on every stand. They are a very important tool for me and I wouldn't go predator hunting with out them. I also wear a camo hat with a camo face mask on it. When the sun is shinning in from the side I turn the hat and point it down and to the side to keep the sun from shinning on my glasses. Most of the time the first thing the coyotes see is my camo 11-87 moving.

I think if you stay away from sunglasses with a mirror outer finish you would be fine. Sunglasses come in many different colors and shades. I would try to pick something less reflective on the outer surface. I have to wear sunglasses. My eyes are far too sensitive to light.

The answer is simple, wear a head net that will break up any glare...that's what I do. Covering up that White reflective face is more important than the consideration on the glare from the glasses.

This is just one of those "little" things that may give you an edge some of the time.

When you sit facing the sun, it's a tough way to hunt, but sometimes it's unavoidable.

I use prescription yellow tinted glasses with a full-face mask, same goes for turkey hunting. With the yellow tint it’s as if someone turned on the lights, everything is sharp and crisp especially in low light.

B..

i've got a pair of oakley M frames that are matte black, i wear them on some stands and while deer hunting. they are very comfortable, cling to the head, and are worth every penny if ya ask me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

like ackleyman just said, it's not a bad idea to wear some kinda face mask... a fask mask + some black glasses, leaves very little for them to pic out.

The edit is my thoughts exactly. You want to make your stands so the yote is coming into the sun. This makes it very hard for him to decifer the terrain. And if you are sitting in the shade of a bush it is even harder for him to see you. If you are doing this your back will be to the sun and therefore no glare could be present for him to bust you with.

Easier said then done sometimes though if you are trying to play the wind and the sun. They may both dictate 2 opposite setups at times.

But I had some camo glasses I wore a lot and never felt they inhibited my ability to call dogs in.

I use Oakley's with interchangable lenses, They cut through the haze and glare and the yellow lenses brighten up a overcast day which really give you the edge.
